Jamal Parris (pictured above) and Spencer LeGrande recently risked their settlement money and spoke out on an Atlanta news station about their repeated childhood molestation at the hands of the Bishop Eddie Long. <PAUSE>

Ugh. Let’s examine that entire previous sentence for a second.

1. “Jamal Parris and Spencer LeGrande…”

Let me just be blunt and say it: if he did what he was accused of, the Bishop Eddie Long had good taste at least. All of his accusers were very attractive from what I could see (with the exception of the fifth accuser, Centino Kemp, the makeup-wearing feminine dude who’s photo you will not see in this post). What’s disturbing though is that while I find them attractive now, as men…Eddie Long was allegedly attracted to them 10 years ago, as children.

2. “…recently risked their settlement money and spoke out on an Atlanta news station…”

This is yet another reason for me to believe they are telling the truth. If this was all a lie just to get paid, why risk losing their “prize”? That’d be like President Obama demanding for a recount on election victory night.

They even say in the interview (embedded below) that they don’t care about the money and they are writing a book about their ordeal, which would break the confidentiality agreement stipulated in the settlement.

3. “…about their repeated molestation at the hands of the Bishop Eddie Long.”

This part of the sentence honestly makes me gag. Like seriously, I just threw up a little in my mouth while typing it. And the reason is not because I think Eddie is unattractive (which I do)…I mean we all have that one person in our past that we can’t believe we actually had sex with.

No, I gag because it means that this man is a pedophile. That, to me, is the lowest level a person can fall…short of murder. I have no forgiveness or sympathy for a pedophile. Especially one that doesn’t admit he has a problem and seeks help. Especially one that bashes homosexuals on the pulpit, while hypocritically engages in gay sex afterward.

They went on to say that Eddie Long never admitted to the allegations, even behind closed doors. They also dropped the detail that intercourse never went down, just oral sex……Okay, now I’m starting to gag again.

While it appears that these men are not gay or bisexual (not these two at least), victims of molestation in the black gay community are more widespread than we care to admit. In the last 4 years alone I’ve met many men that have admitted to me they were molested. Some have even claimed that it made them gay (a topic we’ll discuss later).

Either way, these men have to live with this for the rest of their lives unfortunately. I applaud their “coming out” about the sins of the father. Their actions (and book) may help others who have been in this situation or are currently in this situation, find the courage to get help as well.
