I don’t like Bernie Sanders. Surprise!

I have many reasons, and I finally read an article that helped distill all of my thoughts. It’s in The Nation, which I only rarely read since it’s a bit to the left of where I live- but hey, gotta challenge yourself sometimes! Here it is: What’s Wrong With Bernie Sanders’s Strategy

Here are a few reasons why Bernie annoys the hell outta me:

    1. He is NOT a Democrat. He has steadfastly refused to run as a Democrat in his lily-white state, even when Dems have specifically cleared the field to make sure that he would have clear sailing through election time. The day he loses the nomination for president is the day he’ll go back to being an independent Senator from Vermont. I give him a score of -25 for loyalty, and loyalty is important in politics.

The question of why he refuses to run as a Democrat is an interesting one. This is what the author says,

“Even his decision over the years to run as a socialist, or an Independent, and not as a Democrat, has helped Sanders with his white, working-class base, which a slew of research shows has come to see Democrats as the party of minorities. In other states, “socialist” might be an albatross of a label; in Vermont, the term “Democrat” may cost you votes.”

So basically, he wants to lead a party whose bedrock is black and Hispanic voters, but refuses to associate with them. I find this deliciously convenient, especially for a self-proclaimed “radical”.

    2. He minimizes and diminishes the role that racism plays in creating American social and economic inequality. He’s all “revolution”. Yeah, as long as black people don’t show up. Kick bricks dude.

    3. He’s vociferously pro-gun and turns around and says, “oh, I’m just serving my rural, gun-owning constituents”. Yes, Uncle Bernie, but that still doesn’t make it right.

    4. He’s a self-described socialist…oh excuse me, “democratic socialist”. He’s a fool if he thinks he can win by calling himself a socialist, even against a Trump-like Frankensteinian candidate. Nuff said.

Hillary isn’t perfect. But I don’t need perfection. She’s reasonable. She’s an incrementalist. She’s more liberal than my moderate ass, but that doesn’t bother me. I need someone who is loyal, reasonable and actually has a plan to lead, not some pie-in-the-sky “revolution” psychobabble. I need someone who will unequivocally say, “NikR is black and gay and I have his back”. Bernie won’t even say that in Vermont. Dude can go kick bricks. I have no use for him.

1: What has the Democratic party done for us (black people)? At best they ignore us and take our votes for granted.

2: Bernie haso at least acknowledge the role of systemic racism in the problems black Americans faced and called off reforms. HC basically patted BLM on the head and told them to kick rocks. Also she propagated the "super predator" myth which is used as justification to lock up and destroy the lives of many black youth.

3: It strikes me a stupid so many black political leaders are so anti-gun and call for more "gun control." Just like with the war on drugs this more gun control will be used as pretext to over police and lock up mostly black males. It won't be white men and white neighborhoods that will be targeted for enforcement of stricter gun laws.

4: Socialist is not a bad thing. Lists of countries(many of them allies of the USA) are socialist, like Canada, Japan, Sweden, Germany for example. They all have a higher standard of living and less disparity in the quality of life for those at the top and the bottom of society. That said Bernie will need to have a completely different Congress to accomplish his goals. Since it is Congress and not the president that makes laws and spends the money on national priorities.

    1. Democrats leave much to be desired and I have little love for them. They are congenitally useless and often spineless. But Republicans actually, fiercely, hate black people. And in a 2-party country, often the decision is between bad and worse. I choose bad.

    2. If HRC bears responsibility for something she said while in "office" as First Lady (where she didn't have a vote), so do the Black Congressional Conference in the HOR, where they actually HAD a vote. It's a poor, messed up situation that screwed up a lot of people. There's plenty of blame to go around. How did Bernie actually vote? I'm not sure, and I'm too lazy to check.

    3. You're right, more gun control will lead to more black arrests. It's easy for me to sit in my ivory tower and say, "well at least take the gun away from your kid!" But not even that happens. A lot of parents know where guns are, but rationalize it. I have personally seen it. So, where does this lead us? Between a f%cked situation and hell.

    4. Canada is definitely not a socialist country. Of the list...maybe Sweden is the closest to being socialist. The difference between these countries and here is that "tax" isn't a dirty word; monetary policy is actually pretty conservative there, regardless of what Republicans may tell us here (conservative Republicans are actually classic neo-liberals). Canadian indices didn't completely collapse in 2008 b/c of their monetary policy and they kept a lid on the excesses of Bay Street (banking sector). Canada has a better social safety net since they pay for it, and actually get stuff for that money. There isn't a tragedy of the commons as there is here- it is visible; clean cities, paved roads, snow cleared, effective hospitals, people with access to doctors regardless of income, more effective and equal schools (b/c the funding formula isn't based on neighborhoods)...the list goes on.

Bernie, as a protest candidate, does not represent the people he wants to lead. Hillary is not what anyone wants her to be. But she'll do. She'll pander and at least a bunch of bad things won't happen. I'm sure people will moan and complain about how terrible she is...kind of like how Uncle Bernie has complained about what a failure Obama has been. But Bernie isn't loyal. And if the general isn't loyal, why should the troops be loyal? He needs to go away.

On your point about Bernie not being a Democrat but running Democrat:

Well, can you blame him? This country only respects two parties, Democrat and Republican. Independents and every other party only have voting power in the general election. So yes, he has entered the race as a Democrat.

    Here's my question for you:
Why do you think Hillary has changed her views to the same views of Bernie?

I wouldn't be mad a Bernie being the nominee, but I agree with all of your issues with him and more. Namely for me, I don't think his Christmas list of free stuff would actually work in this country or "fix" things. On top of that, he has no serious plan on how to implement any of his policies in this polarized country and political system.

She's softened her stance on a few issues to pander to the far left/white liberal wing of the party, which by the way, has never trusted her or her husband. She's a politician, so she wants to win. So she wants their support too. I'm just glad that she hasn't gone all "revolution!" on us. It just wouldn't be genuine and it wouldn't be her. I don't think it'll get her that far though; at this point, the cake is baked-I don't feel we'll see huge shifts in support going forward through the primary season.

She was absolutely right. As much as the Democrats love Hillary and call her a moderate, a lot of her pre-pandering views are more in line with what the (actual, non-Tea Party) Republican party stands for. Bernie's ideals line up with what the Democratic party is supposed to stand for on paper. But really, my biggest issue is that we have a 2-party system that basically tries to be all things to all people, which is how you eventually get these caricatures of what each party stands for on both sides.

Well maybe the older Democrats. I feel as though us youngins don't feel the same about pretty much everything. Everything from TV, to news, to ads have been resisted by us millenials. Typically, we don't watch TV. We get our entertainment from our laptops--netflix, hulu... besides literally every show or movie is watchable on the Internet. We rarely watch the news. We go to various websites or get it from facebook links. Ads that work on you and the older generation don't work on us. They have to track us via cookies on our laptops to even get an idea of what we like and we fight that with Incognito/Private browsing.

With all that said, the political climate for us youngins is also vastly different. Information, or access to information, is a powerful way of controlling people. So while the majority of people, especially older people, get their information from TV and news on the TV, we do not. We don't trust it! We get information from various places and from each other. And the record has shown that Hillary has changed time and time again. Bernie has remained the same. We love him and he's finally able to be appreciated now, but he's been the same person fighting the establishment since before I was born! Hillary has gradually evolved to the point of being somewhat close to Sanders' view, but she is still apart of the establishment. She is still tied by money... and money is the one thing the masses don't have. We are indebted and controlled by our need of money. We don't want our President to be the same. We want our President to change that. And I'm afraid, given her record, that Hillary will not do that for us. Bernie, however, will do that!

I'm all for getting information from different places. But from each other? I have a problem with that, mostly because most people aren't interested in history or data. History is the key. It makes us who we are. Hillary's 100% defensive crouch is a feature of the environment she lived in. It was nurtured in the south, when the Democratic party was much more conservative than it is today. It was nurtured in an environment where Democrats lost the 1972, 1980, 1984 and 1988 presidential elections massively. It was nurtured in an environment when Democrats only knew how to lose, and where those losses meant the country was worse off.

Read about it here: The Other Side of the Argument

    An excerpt:

"In 1972, Richard Nixon won reelection by dominating the Electoral College 520-17, destroying George McGovern by eighteen million votes. The Democrats bounced back in 1976, thanks to Watergate, but the victory papered over fatal weaknesses. Jimmy Carter lost every state west of the Missouri River except Texas and Hawai’i. Meanwhile, he won every state in the former Confederacy except Virginia. Whatever that election coalition was, it certainly wasn’t sustainable. He was defeated in 1980 by over eight million votes and carried only six states.

In 1984, Walter Mondale was crushed by a 525-13 Electoral College margin, and by seventeen million votes. He carried only his home state of Minnesota and the District of Columbia. In 1988, in what should have been a strong year for the out-party, Michael Dukakis was demolished 426-111 in the Electoral College, and by about seven million votes."

And then moderately liberal Bill Clinton came around and finally won not one, but two elections under the Democratic flag. The first one with a whopping 43% of the vote. He did ok, even after he lost the historic Democratic lock on congress in 1994. There was some prosperity and relative peace during his time in office. But people don't really appreciate that. Not anymore.

I don't trust Bernie Sanders. He knew the Democratic party was the vehicle to progress throughout his political career. But that vehicle of progress wasn't doing well for a long time. So of course he didn't run for Vermont's house seat as a Democrat-it was a hurting party with rolls filled with black and brown people. They weren't his constituents so why throw in with them?

Bill and Hillary Clinton are not the sole authors of all our woe. We should stop pretending that they are.

You're right, Hillary has changed. And that's ok. I'm moderate- I change my views too. I can understand distrust in pillars of society-some cops lie, some politicians are corrupt, some priests rape children. I get it. But culture change doesn't happen just because it's at the top- it's the people in the organization that need to change. If you want to make a change, join "the establishment" and bring your friends. Bernie will likely lose in the closed-primary states to come, partially because his young, politically independent supporters can't vote in them.

@Discordant I think I know where you're coming from. But I need to emphasize-Hillary is no Republican, just like Bernie is no Democrat. While the center of gravity on the Dem side has changed, there's plenty of space for everyone.

I'm glad the Democratic party allows interlopers to run in their primaries. I'm glad that many primaries are open. Both speak to strength. I'm tired of the Bernie show. It'll end soon enough. And he'll go back to being an independent from Vermont, which he has always been.

Like I said before, Bernie has always been fighting the establishment since before I was born. Only now does the Democrat side include us gay folk in its agenda. He was fighting for it way back when it was unpopular and not on the Democrat side-- back when Bill Clinton signed "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

You can find the receipts here: Bernie Sanders stood up for gay soldiers — 16 years before "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" ended

And Bernie Sanders isn't as illegitimate as you think. You should stop acting as if he is.

I'm glad you understand corruption on a societal level. So I invite you to consider the possibility of the political corruption that you are overlooking by being a "Bernie hater" as you put it--The political corruption that comes from money and those who have lots of it cannot be overlooked. The millions that they[the Banks and Wall Street] donate to Hillary are likely to stop her from acting against them when they act malignantly against us[average consumers]. The best example of this is the Panama paper scandal. Hillary fought for it; Bernie fought against it. Who wins when rich people don't get taxed? And who fought for those rich people and corporations? Not Bernie... So I invite you to change your views on Bernie.

    Stank Face XD.jpg
Nah, my friends and I would rather execute a coup d'etat on it to wake the masses up to the political corruption that has become so commonplace in our society. "The Establishment" has long been compromised.

It's a very sad day when I alone have to be the "Bernie show" because you definitely won't hear anything related to my side of the story about Bernie on the news! So yes, I and other millennials will debate you and your "favor" of Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee. Deal with it!

Interesting. I'm curious what your definition of "the establishment" is. Because by most reasonable standards in society, I am part of "the establishment".

I never intimated that he was illegitimate; he's just not a team-player. I have to be a team player in my job, otherwise people suffer. And politics is the same. But there goes Bernie skipping own the road with his cute little revolution flag.

I think we're at different stages in life. Maybe I have a dim, sclerosed view of power and how it works because of what I've experienced. But I've learned life isn't nearly as black and white as it seems. So, when you say, 'no, I won't join "the establishment" ', I can only shake my head and laugh. Because when I ask people your age about voting, they say... ehhhhhh maybe for president? And then a 50-something yr old black lady says, I'm voting for Hillary- for the nomination AND president. Coup d'etats generally work when you've got a plan. Bernie is behind by more than 200 delegates. He lost Louisiana in a landslide and he'll probably lose NYS. Based on this, how is the coup going? And will the revolution/coup be around during the 2018 midterms, or the next state or local elections? I suspect not. Because coups aimed at the top are short-sighted and fizzle once the figure-head is defeated.

I don't hold an especially favorable view of Hillary. But that's not how I make decisions. I'm more dispassionate. I vote for turds to keep racists out. Because that's life- a lot of time it's between a bad and worse choice. But I show up. Consistently. Getting involved in a local political organization doesn't somehow make you a sell-out- it gives you credibility and power.

LMAO. I laughed because I actually pictured this! Still though, the fact that y'all really think Bernie is a joke... ain't cool.

On one hand, a lot of young adults (and just a lot of people too) see this messed up voting system and give up, cold turkey... That whole "I'm not voting" move... I mean, it's understandable what with how the Electoral College system is set up, how Republicans are constantly trying to deter us not to vote, how the media is controlling the information we see and hear about the candidates, oh and let's not forget economic issues... But on the other hand, a group of young adults see the messed up system and try their best to change it... I'm a part of that second group of young adults.

Actually, the coup is going quite well. Bernie has been winning. The media is always messing him over, but it's going well for now. No, he didn't win Louisiana, but he did do better here in New Orleans. We'll see how New York goes. Also the coup isn't just Bernie. It's his issues. Every weakness he finds in Hillary is something y'all [the Establishment] need to answer for. We[the millennials] will bring these issues to up via Twitter and other means of social media. The coup is all about reform... like what energy we use, how the US acts as the police of the world, how the police are trained, how they barely are held accountable, how sex education is taught in this country, the criminal justice system... the list goes on. All in all, these issues are coming to light and starting to be addressed. What's also coming to light is corruption within the Democratic party. I call that a win... at the very least, the masses become more conscious.

I voted for Bernie to keep corruption out. If Hillary wins the nomination, I'll vote for Hillary's corruption over Donald's long list of societal ills.

Forgive me. I didn't mean that you were a sell-out. I actually like you and your conversation so far... I meant that Hillary doesn't compare to Bernie because of their relationship to money. If it were Hillary and someone who also took millions from banks and Wall Street, then we'd have a whole different conversation[See Barack Obama vs. Hillary Clinton] lol. But that's not the case. We have Bernie vs. Hillary. With Bernie, we[the indebted working masses] have a fighting chance to change the relationship of money to our everyday lives. He's a threat to that system of control, unlike Hillary. That's why the news won't report on him, his issues, or his following--because they are the sell-outs.

You are a bright young man. So, I think you already know that twitter and social media are not gonna cut it. I`m glad that you`ve seen the issues with the electoral college and voting issues. Voting issues are state issues. States also make the determination on how the allot their delegates for the electoral college. And guess which direction the electoral college is heading...south! NYS use to run things- now we`re essentially Florida, which is...embarrassing. This is where you can make a change. And people like you. Organize. Get involved in, then take over local party precincts. Then elect people and start writing laws. This is where the revolution needs to go.

Yeah, voting and suggesting laws is what we must do. The Twitter/social media is about bringing light to corruption. From there, we bring it to our political leaders and put pressure on them to act, or vote against them when the time comes. It's like how BlackLivesMatter started and then became a bigger movement. That's the role that social media plays.

Lord, I've only been 30 for a week and now I'm old and out of touch. :mjcry1: I'm considered a millenial too lol.

Anyhow, I think you're absolutely right that the political climate has changed, as has the way information is shared and sourced. I also agree that Hillary changes her stance depending on which direction the win blows (and that wasn't a typo.) I'm hoping Bernie can pull this off and grab the party nomination. I don't think he'll have any less success than she will in the Senate. In fact, as an old white man, he might still do slightly better than her. The most important thing, however, is to ensure that we're electing people into Congress that share our views. At the end of the day, the President can only do so much if Congress isn't willing to play fair.

As an 'old white guy' I will also say that 'what you get online' or through 'social media' is not somehow blessedly sacred and untainted and the major new networks are not exactly 'nothing but propaganda paid for by vested interests' either. One thing about the internet is that anyone can start some blog and claim anything as some truth, and then it spreads, when their is no way to actually track down information, nobody to say to 'lets see the receipts' sort of, ya know? at least with the networks and the ads if we question them, there is (usually)someone to hold accountable-there is a trail, if people actually give a shit and take the time and effort to go after the one who is ultimately responsible for what is said.

I have been on the internet for years and have fought over things, have seen 'evidence' presented, tracked it down from one blog to another website to another posting(etc.) to find out it originated from some opinion with no factual information whatsoever to back it up. This is quite common actually to see people just quote blog posts as factual information and it just spreads and is taken as researched and verified truth like it was peer reviewed and replicated or something.

Just because someone is younger or appears to be younger and is using social media to spread or receive information does not make them or the information any more true or accurate. Look at what is online, 90% or more is total crap. And they called television 'The vast wasteland'. I guess the internet and the web is a vast waste of universe by comparison. Just sayin'

Yeah I don't see Hillary getting anything through a Republican Congress unless she's compromising our rights and safety... With Bernie comes that drive to change the world. Voter turn out will skyrocket. We're politically engaged like never before... Will that disappear if he isn't successful? Probably, but we'll deal with that if that happens then...

Yes, the Internet is filled with lies, misinformation, and lots of porn. Still, it is a better answer than the mainstream media found on TV. You have multiple sources of liberal, conservative, and moderate news. Take your pick! You can look up the political views of people you like and respect, of your role models. With TV, you have to wait until an depth interviews for that stuff. See... the world is changing. People are starting to see through the veil of ignorance propagated by what we are allowed to see on TV.

The Internet provides you information at your whim. And we're using it to do what we want and be who want. Live in a homophobic world? Escape it on the internet - find out that every other animal tends to have some same sex attraction too, connect to other people who are gay (like this), find out that there's a big supportive world out there; Are you Black and weren't taught Black history in school or by your family? Learn about your roots on the Internet. In fact, go ahead and watch Roots on the Internet too (It barely comes on TV). Is your favored Presidential candidate being undermined by the mainstream media on TV? Watch his full speeches on (you guessed it) the Internet. Find out his views and plans without the constant comparisons to Hillary on the Internet.

Older generation - mass media, TV, limited use of the Internet & social media
Younger generation - personalized media, masterful use of Internet & social media

Note that I'm generalizing the gap between the generations, but it is true for the most part. The older people who frequent this site are outliers.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that!!!!! But I just couldn't bear to respond to it-it's the first time someone's made me feel so old, and I admit it kinda hurt. I'm only 27! But @LeMignon is 21 and therefore a sexy lil mofo, so I turned away in shame and didn't say anything lol. So this is what I have to look forward to. I never understood it before, now I do.

LMAO It's not that y'all are old... Y'all really aren't. @Discordant it's that there's a difference in how we get information. My friends and I are all on the internet and rarely watch TV. If you're not doing that, I just relate y'all to my parents... who I consider old. LOL sorry that's my personal bias, but y'all aren't old!! My bad lol

Well hot damn I'm glad you can't say that I'm one of your parents! I rarely watch TV; most of the info I get is online- mostly reading magazines and papers from different parts of the country. I don't even watch myself when I'm on TV. Ok that's a lie...I do.

Anyways I went ahead and gave you the dap to get you to 100. Congrats on that btw sexy mofo. It's alright- you'll be grown and sexy like me one day. That day is just around the corner. You'd be surprised how fast time flies.

Well actually there was much of the stuff you mentioned available before the internet-it was just not as easy to get too-not at your fingertips. And certainly you needed to pretty much be an adult to get it. Also there was this thing called reading that people did as well. There were newspapers, magazines, and printed information galore-that stuff thrived-don't forget about that.

And I knew about same sex animals, connected to other gay people, found out about gay people and the variety of gay people out there, watched Roots when it first came on TV, and got printed versions of full speeches by political candidates-and all before the internet. lol. I also managed to find 'regular guy' gay guys to befriend and date-even black ones!!!-before the internet! Imagine that! lol

And I use the internet frequently, and have not owned a tv in over 5 years. And I am practically (forgive the term) a technotard.

And social media is great-but not all that it is cracked up to be. Funny how social media tends to make people less social, or able to be social. Not all of course-I am generalizing as well. It is funny how people seem to sometimes equate the internet and social media to concepts like the discovery of fire and the invention of the wheel-is it really on the same level? We shall see.

Personalized media can be just as bad as mass media, just in different ways. There is usually an upside and a downside to everything. And I appreciate your youthful zeal, energy, and enthusiasm, as well as your intelligence. I just think a healthy dose of skepticism is good for everything-even stuff like personalized mass media, and the internet and social media -there is ignorance to be found there as well. One veil comes down, another goes up. Also it is dangerous to only let yourself be exposed to the things you like and want to be exposed to. That can be limiting in other ways as well.

Seeing things in terms of us vs them(I tend to it I do admit) or even(no pun intended) black or white is often not the way the world is-things are more often shades of gray.

And you will get there too. You know, being an outlier. I actually have always been an outlier in my life- I usually have not gone with the flow-I prefer it that way as it seems to come naturally to me. :)

*Also if you live in a homophobic world, the best thing you can do is not escape it, but confront it-as that is how things change-by confrontation, not escapism. I have put my 'older' ass on the line (including publicly) many times and faced the disapproval and downright hate, and there are many people of all colors, races, religions, orientations, sexes, sexualities, etc. who have done the same over the years so gay people do not have it quite so hard now as they used to.

With your enthusiasm for change in the world(which I admire) I think you are really more of the type to confront things, and not escape them-right?

I like and agree with so much of your posts yet I kind of hate you for being so successful and at such a young age. lol. It is a love hate thing ok? lol. LeMignon is so refreshing isn't he? I bet he would applaud Bernie as Bernie taxed the living shit out of you wealthier types(how else would he pay for all that stuff???-he ain't fooling me). I admit, I would be applauding right along! hehehehe.

    * And don't deny your wealth privilege- 'taxes, malpractice insurance..blah blah*...if you don't have the money yet you will. Just in time for Uncle Stali...er...Uncle Bernie to take it alllll awwaaaayyyy!!! :bronbad:

There was even an all black male gay bar in Columbus Ohio-back in the late eighties! lol. When I found out about it I went with a friend to check it out and show support. We got there...there were about 80 guys there-every one was black. We were the only white people there. I even asked the bartender if the place(while legally it could not discriminate) was really more of a 'black gathering space'-if so(just like here) I would be ok leaving-I did not want to violate that. He said no, you are welcome. a guy bought me a drink and then another one asked me to dance-and then my friend freaked and we had to leave because I drove.

I thought maybe it was that it was during the week that no white guys were there. So I went back at midnight on a Saturday night-it was packed-and there were still no whites there. I realized then that blacks were willing to go to the white gay bars, but whites would not go to the black ones. The bar only was open for about a year. I wonder what would have happened if it got 'broader support'?

That was the beginnings of my eventual realization that white gays were pretty much failing black(and other gay people of color) very badly. I still wonder how much of it was due to the AIDS crisis and the overwhelming nature of it-it just seemed to consume every bit of energy at times. Some very bad things are so entrenched in this society I sometimes wonder if we really do need a revolution to cleanse us.

LMAO well, thanks; this is really kind. I feel like I have a lot to offer to a lot of people, so I'm trying to make sure that the measure of success I've experienced so far doesn't go to my head and make me less useful. I know I've been tremendously blessed- I stand tall because I stand on the very broad shoulders of my parents and sister. And that's truth. I've also had a bunch of very lucky bounces along the way- I was a nice, nerdy kid born to parents who, while not well off, planned very very far ahead for college funding. I also didn't knock some girl up when I was 17, which untethered me from that potential speed bump. I also got out of a toxic school environment just before high school, which definitely changed the course of my life. Too many stories about that. Also, at a very young age I realized that I had very above average persistence- and that I was good at eating the $hit needed to get to where I wanted to be. I also decided to never tell my parents that I was gay, since I was sure that me coming out would set me off course. More on that later. In all, I'm still growing.

I haven't gotten to read everything you've written, but from what I've seen so far, we are on the same wavelength- I like it.

This is just profound. All I can say is kudos for getting out of your comfort zone and thinking about this.

You're definitely right! I am the type to confront things, but that wasn't always the case. Getting here was a journey... now you're taking me down memory lane lol, but the Internet definitely helped me to become the confrontational person I am today. I stumbled upon a gold mine when I came across Discreet City. Look at it now! I just got my first banner lol!

You're absolutely right. Personalized media has its downfalls, as does being so engulfed in social media. I won't fight you there.

I definitely love exposing myself to different opinions and different people. That might be a rare trait nowadays, but I've grown so much because of it.

You're able to speak more on it than I am because you are an outlier. Most of your life occurred before I was born, when you had to work to get information and meet other gay people. That's was never the case for me, even when I was a teenager. So, I definitely value your opinion, but I still think it's different when you've had this access to anything you wanted to know all your adult life vs. coming up without Internet to living on it (like me). You know the world before the Internet. I don't. LOL to me, it might as well be the Stone Age XD

Yeah, that's what I heard. The gay world was the shyt for a time, then AIDS hit, and it was never the same. Now we're getting our rights, but the party scene will likely never be the same... I'm kind of envious of the idea of how it used to be.

As for the revolution... I've kind of felt that, especially recently with Ferguson, that there would need to be something big to change the racism in this country... That might be a revolution; it might also be Civil War... But it'll take something big.
