How about a 'stickied' thread in one of the lifestyles forums for bisexuals?

Just an idea. Something somewhere that would be kind of a dedicated thread to a group that seems to be a minority within a minority here. If stickied it would be a go-to place and would not get lost among other threads. So I guess I am asking can you add this? *formal request* and yes I will be 'salty' if this is denied but I will deal with it.

My first instinct is against this...The problems bisexuals have with this site (if any) isn't that they need a specific space all for themselves and/or their topics. I think their problems with the site (if any) are more so related to many guys in the Squad not really understanding and identifying with the idea of bisexuality. Whenever they voice that legitimate misunderstanding, the bisexuals either remain quiet or they get overly defensive.

I disagree. I think they are legitimately misunderstood by many on the site and the problem lies not with them, but with the stereotypes that people have associated with them(not real, really gay, confused, greedy, not out yet, etc, etc). I also think site members project their own negative experiences of gay men who were gay but claimed bisexuality onto true bisexual men. I don't blame them for getting quiet or overly defensive. If the site really does represent a space for them too(black bisexual masc/not conforming to the 'black gay bisexual narrative- and the people who support them) then I would think that guys not really understanding or identifying with them would be a concern of the site, and not something simply brushed away. JMO of course.

*'site members, etc. as I used it, is a great generalization of course.

Well only one other Squad member has chimed in and he's against it. Also, the only bisexual dude who has voiced these concerns said in a thread in the past that he didn't want a separate space. Also, where does this end? Do we then create a separate area for Fems? For Trans?

I get and appreciate the suggestion though. If there is a demand for it, I'll add it without hesitation.

Separate space makes no sense. Just further fragmenting. But I would like to see more pieces geared towards my situation.

Actually I will take the dap on my comment as approval. And of course you will do what you want as it is your site.

There is no trans or femme mentioned in the beginning of your site mission statement. Bi is mentioned. A single stickied thread would also not be segregation or fragmentation IMO as has been suggested as it would simply allow a place where bisexual topics would not get drowned out and lost, and it would be a choice to post there as well-I would hardly expect all bisexual threads to be arbitrarily relegated there. But of course it is your decision dude-it is your site! lol and I will respect your decision whatever it is. It is just an idea, and I really don't have any skin in the game given that I am not bi, so either decision will have little effect* on me.

*please tell me I am using the right form of that word.

Whatever the decision, I am cool with it.
    :salute:

Are you sure...the 'effect' is used as a noun. and is the something that is happening because of a 'cause'-the decision.

Doesn't have to be a separate space, but a space where topics specific to bi folk would be awesome. Then people like myself, and others, interested in those topics can find them. I've been looking for a search feature for that exact reason, and haven't found one. I'm assuming it's here, somewhere.

True story...but, we also enjoy pussy & women, and navigating relationships with both, and the events that bring us together...and the conversations that help us not feel isolated in our experience...an experience that, unfortunately, a lot of our gay brethren either don't understand, deny, or are hostile to.

Every little bit definitely helps...that's for sure.

What you are asking for, you can get from the straight outlets. You can't buy shoes from a supermarket.

    This.

But I think he means a website or space that talks/brags about the complications/rewards/experience in dating and/or having sex with BOTH women and men.

I think there may need to be a separate specific Bisexual Website to facilitate this. However, I can't imagine what that site would look like or who would write blogs and articles for it.

I apologize if my response is being harsh and unempathetic. I just cannot wrap my head around how any same gender-loving dude (gay or bisexual) doesn't feel welcomed and appreciated on this site. Being bisexual is indeed having "both worlds". I feel that Nick and Ocky have created a great platform for bisexual men to feel comfortable and related on the gay side of their world.

I can't believe it!!! I actually agree with something @ColumbusGuy said...

No with that said, I do think that bisexuals need to make their presence on this site more known. For example, why was I (a gay male), one of a few other gay males on CA, acknowledging Bisexual Awareness Week. I didn't see not one bisexual make a thread or status about it...:nopekid:. It's the job of bisexual men first and foremost to voice their opinions, issues, etc.

LoL They sent me to you guys.

No, but seriously. What part of the bisexual experience do you imagine is understood by straight folk any more than it is by gay folk, overall? If the description of the group, here, includes gay/bi men...why would I shop at the supermarket that only serves straight folk?

Anyway, it's not uncommon for primarily gay spaces to resist support for the bisexual presence included in those spaces and deny the resistance.

No big deal. Most bi folk are used to it. Gay spaces often make it difficult for bisexuals to be seen, or our issues, which are often included on paper in those spaces, to be discussed...and then use that lack of visibility to justify their perceptions of DL, non-existence, denial, and lack of presence.

I'm new here, & just commenting on the idea of an easily found space for anyone interested in the topics related to bisexuality. Clearly, you guys are just fine doing what ya been doing.

If it's that big a deal... Cool.

I can't speak to what has happened here recently, since I'm new, but this isn't uncommon as a black gay response to black bisexual men. Thanx for acknowledging it.

Although, it's not bisexuals responsibility to educate, any more than it is gay folk responsibility to educate straight folk who operate with bias, and thru stereotyped projections, it's something I have no problem doing with folk who legitimately want to gain insight into my experience & the shared experience of other bi men. I'm not big on fruitless, pointless arguments tho. Lots of time folk get off more on the drama of fighting rather than intellectual growth or insight into the experience of others. It's easy to get quiet when you're outnumbered against opinionated people who have no idea of how your life experience works. It's also easy to get, or be perceived as, overly defensive when people are trying to tell you they know your life better than you do, rather than just listening to your experience. Biphobia is a real thing, and unfortunately most folk don't know when they're being biphobic, just as most str8 folk don't know, or own, when they're being homophobic.
