    I've given up on "culture." As my childhood hero, Richard Wright said many decades ago, Americans have a love for the trash of life. Who knows. Maybe people like the fantasy of Atlanta (or any city) because they are too chickenshit to study, organize and actually be men and women and DEAL with the reality (housing recovery in ATL, pension crisis for public safety components, etc.).

    And why, with the actual diversity in hip hop (thank God for Tidal and Spotify or I would never know it) is everything reduced to "gangsta" and bling?

    I think hip hop has always had a very strong fashion sense, from the late 70s to today. Today is pure excess though.

    I was referring to how mainstream media acts as if Hip Hop music/culture is a one-note Charlie, with no diversity in expression (Native Tongue, Trap, etc.)

    I just can't imagine these chicks actually spending however long it takes to do their makeup like that on the daily. It seems impractical. It's just got to be for the cameras.

    Exactly. No one is constantly 'on' at all times. The shyt they try to pass off as real is laughable.

    The craziest part tho, is that w IG and this 'just add water' music culture being what they are, these kids are really buying it. Why bother w school/education/work if you can be celebrated and paid to host all white parties for being 'real' and 'hood' like Cardi B and the cash me ousside white girl?

    Thank You! While I don't actually watch it (I have my other vices that I'll keep to myself lmao), it's pure entertainment. Why so serious...all the time...

    We all know it's fake af and is of very little substance but just let me get a good 60 minutes of foolishness in (40 sumn minutes after commercials) before I gotta wake up in the AM and put my heteronormative, professional, intellectual hat back on for day lol
