In the world of gay porn, it is safe to say that it is a business. Well there is bisexuality. Anyone can have sex with just about anyone-sex can just be sex and not about real attraction or what people really want. I would say that a gay guy who has sex with a woman and is really into it, enjoys it, and is attracted physically and sexually (and is able to be attracted romantically as well) is probably not a 'gay guy' after all-maybe bisexual?. Lots of gay guys have had a sexual encounter with a woman (myself included-I was young and closeted and horny) and I am gay. as. fuck.

Frigging loaded question. No they aren't stupid but I think we overly rely on them to form opinions about people.

For example, I met an attractive pharmacist, a dark-skinned dude in his mid 30s, on Jack'd at a professional conference. Dude wanted to get fucked. His profile pic was "I'm not gay, but..." with saggy pants. I could never forget it. We had fun. We kinda stayed in contact for a while, then he said a bunch of dumb shit and I was over it. The last person he dated was a woman, though he was sure he'd somehow end up with a guy (not sure how). He lives in the midwest and is extremely closeted- not out to friends, family, no one. He's both the rock of his family their Captain Save-a-hoe. It was...sad. But after talking to him for a few days/weeks, I realized that I didn't have a label for him. He probably was bi but I wouldn't call him gay or bi...just confused, lonely and stuck. He was not someone I was gonna waste time and effort on.

So regarding labels, my best label is 'gay'. My parents told me not to call myself that because of the negative connotation. I will continue to call myself 'gay' since that most neatly encapsulates my sexuality. But more than that, it gives a future me hope that I didn't have while I was growing up. Allowing myself to be partially defined as 'gay' works to normalize the term. I'm not advertising. I'm not flamboyant. But in 15 years, I want a future me to google my name, marvel that Dr. Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, the charismatic polyglot and youngest president and CEO of Johns Hopkins University Hospital, happens to be gay and exclaim, "yeah, I'll be ok."

 

There are exceptions to every rule. Prison is a whole different ball of wax. Like I say often straight men go absolutely insane in environments where there are no women around. Just like one third of adolescent boys(at least one third) engage in sexual play with other male adolescents. One third of men are not gay now, are they? Some straight guys will not engage in any same sex situation, some straights will engage in some purely sexual act in an extreme(like prison) or mind-altered situation. It just depends on the straight, but they can all still be straight IMO in these situations.

Now they start falling in love and having romantic feelings in prison, or are doing these things when not drunk out of their mind and when women are available, then the alarm bells start ringing.
