Dating apps seem to be the norm now days when it comes to meeting people. It's a gift and a curse, I know...

Like many of you, I'm sure I've tried pretty much all of them lol. Jack'd, Grindr, Tindr...none of them have worked for me at this point, but I'm still open to the idea of dating apps although I'd prefer to meet someone OFF-line.

There's a new dating app that I downloaded a few days ago.

    It's called "Chappy."

I figured I would give it a shot. At least for a solid month...or 2 weeks.

In my own words, here's what set's that app apart from the others...

All of us have seen different things on people's profiles that could be considered offensive. For example, "no fats no fems." Chappy prides itself on everyone being respectful to one another. If you're not interested, than just swipe left. No feelings hurt.

What do you guys think? Would you check it out?

"If you're not interested, than just swipe left. No feelings hurt."

...And why can't this simple action be done on other apps? Why are they messaging or going after men when they know they are not the type of man the other wants?

    If these terms aren't offensive:
    "masc looking for fem"
"looking for Black / Brown / Men of color only"

    But these are offensive:
"masc for masc" (fem shaming, femophobia)
"looking for white men only" (racist, discrimination)

Then maybe one needs to examine themselves, get an understanding of what double standards and hypocrisies are while not looking for validation from strangers via apps.

From the advertisement many of these dudes need a therapist.

I think you are going a bit far with that last line, but otherwise..well...lol. I thought you made some good points on the podcast about this. Like how you said your profile would be if you had to make one-positive, about what you like, and about what you want.

I still think it is more about how you state what you want (or don't want.) When people are 'dicks' on these apps it just lets you know up front that they are not shit and you are lucky you know it immediately and can block or ignore them. This way the offensive profiles are a kindness really lol.

The apps (and the internet in general) let people behave like assholes without really having the consequences that would happen with a face-to-face meeting. Just because they can be assholes does not mean they should not have consequences (as in being called out...not for 'preferences' but for assholism and fuckery) and all. To me it is less about preferences and more about being a decent human being. I don't think that expecting people to have at least a minimum of decorum or decency is necessarily "looking for validation".

*I don't think your examples were offensive because they are just preferences and there is nothing being said this is demeaning to any category listed (masc, fem, black/brown/white). It is the phrasing and word choices that are problematic to me, partly because of the word choices and how they are saying what is sought after instead of what is not sought after. "Masc for masc" is different than "no fems", "no queens", "no flamers" etc -it is a matter about basic human respect to me. Of course basic human respect is lacking online and in society in general (and it is one thing to get caught up in an online discussion in the heat of the moment-it is another thing to deliberately and consciously plan a profile that is rude as hell.)

I mean i can see where them trying to create a dating app where ppl are respectful could be a good idea.

But I prob would not use it. Im black looking to date other black dudes. I'm also overweight and prob would be considered "fat" to some; I accept that. Rude or not, I want to know straight up beforehand if I'm not a dude's type

People like what they like and have preferences. So I prefer a dating site that allows as many filter options and where people can be as honest as possible.

But based on their instagram posts...... :thinkemoji: humm can't put my finger on it.............................. @takeyourmeds91 @Lean Lantern @Nick Delmacy @OckyDub Do yall see it?

Yooo, why y'all coming for my chappy breeedren?

Admittedly, yes, it does look like a small gaggle of SS officers of Trump's 4th Reich (+happy 2 prisoners- look at how happy they are!), but it's totally, completely, NOT what you think it actually is! Trust the process!

"White twink fem identifying queers looking for mostly other white guys but will try black guys or any other ethnic."

"Black gays only looking for white guys."

Is what I get from this app.
