Black Church: It's the Gayest Place on the Face of the Earth

Yeah he said this when he was on The Breakfast Club radio show. It is pretty much true. Especially in the music ministry.

 

DJ Vlad needs to go away...I liked when Charlamagne the God and Joe Budden called him out.

 

I wouldn't go as far as to say the black church is the gayest place on earth. That's the kind of sensationalism I've come to expect from the internet. But it is true the black church has a DADT policy when it comes to homosexuality. As long as the gays stay quiet and stay in their lane they are welcome in Black churches. As soon as they come out or start the rock the boat too much they pull up the welcome mat and show them the door.

 

I think it's because of the creative environment of the black church particularly in the music (art and dance) departments. I mean if I ever became a black atheist like @Nick Delmacy , I might still attend a black church (or watch it online lol) just to listen to the music. For some reason black gay dudes seem to be the best at producing great music.

 

Yeah, Im a church musician and it is rare to find straight men under the age of 50 in the music ministry, minus the drummer and bass player. majority of time, they are straight but keys players (organ and piano) can go either way. lol. And yeah, the congregations are still 80 percent female. The dudes there usually havent been saved all their life and are just there for either wives, moms or girlfriends, or are just genuinely tryna "find a better way."

Not the gayest place on earth, but u will run into at least one at every church.

Side note, I used to date a deacon, who served under a very homophobic pastor. Dude was also very conservative, former military, tall and muscular. Not the type of guy in Tennessee you would ping as gay. But he loved some dick. lol.

 

You make a great point about Black churches being 80% female with the exception of church leadership which still tends to be male dominated. I think on an instinctual level most heterosexual black men know Christianity is bullshit, even of they do still believe in god. Most gay black men on the other hand love them some Jeeesus. When ever I tell most black gay dudes I'm an atheist they get all emotional and dramatic like I'm gonna be struck by lighting at that very moment. But my experience has taught me god doesn't work that way. God is indistinguishable from random chance. @Sean I'm not surprised at your experience with the deacon. Being ex-military myself I've met many guys who are unlockable as being gay or bisexual while I was in. I used to date this brutha in the Navy while I was AF. I was comfortable with him because he was so low-key and regular.

 

I don't know who loves church more Women or Gay men and at the same time who also is the least respected in the church too
