Girl Scouts organization sues Boy Scouts over trademark as Boys welcome girls

Lol that’s some weak sauce intellectual property shit. The IP lawyers I know laughed at the dilution of trademark argument. That’s like white fraternities trying to sue Alphas, Kappas et al because the traditional black Greek letter orgs allow white members.

I haven't ordered cookies from them chicks in over 2 years. They have changed the recipes on the powder lemon ones and now they nastee.

 

I can't even deal man. I obviously love the advancements we've made as a society and all that, but I HATE that it now allows everyone to have a fukn platform. I was a cub scout (hoodrat chapter...don't judge) and it was great to have buddies w/o girls around. They have their own scouts. Why do we have to redefine EVERYTHING, man (..or person?!)?!

Btw, have any of yall ever had a girl scout ever come up to yall peddling cookies? I never have, and I only ate them because my mom ordered from coworkers. That's how I used to win ALL of the candy sales as a kid! My mom would just take the order form to work and I got to be a lazy sack of shit kid.

 

this is not about progress at all. boy scout membership has plummeted for years. this is their desperate attempt to survive and gain members by co-opting the language of inclusion. it's like when white ppl / realtors high jack diversity lingo to make gentrifying an all blk neighborhood seem like racial progress. rather than confronting one of its core problems -- long-standing exclusion of low income and blk and latino boys -- boy scouts prefers to open up its doors to even more white ppl: girls. don't be mistaken: what they are doing has nothing to do with the intention of gender equality and inclusion. i hope girl scouts beats the hell out of them in court.

Your point about the decline and desperation of the national "boy scout" organization is on point. We diverge in opinion on attributing anything positive to the national "girl scout" organizations and their motives in this lawsuit. They have a slick operation, a billion dollar volunteer organization. If they were a private company, their taskmasters would have been locked up years ago for violation of child labor laws. The thing is if the "girl scouts" took the time, money, or effort to turn their aggressive cookie fundraising into teaching modern entrepreneurship for the young scouts it could be justifiable. As it is, this is just two economic behemoths fighting over potential child labor forces, i can't get emotional over either. The mafia would be shooting this out on the streets, the corps just shoot in court with writs and shit.
