Just watched this old documentary about an overweight 41 year old man with a rare disease who juice fasted for 60 days to (seemingly) amazing results. He lost 80 lbs and his disease went into remission. He used the 80/20 vegetable to fruit ratio for his juices.

The doc also followed a 42 year old man that weighed over 400 lbs but eventually got down to under 300 after the lifestyle change.

This is just one documentary and could be anecdotal propaganda, so has anyone tried longterm (10-60 day) juice fasting themselves?

I’m considering it mainly less for weight loss and more because, while I do cook about once a week, I still often eat a lot of high sodium, high sugary, high calorie processed foods with very few vegetables. I’m sure that the minor medical annoyances I occasionally have with my body are related to my poor diet.

Some folk swear by them and also saw one on Netflix and dude lost mad weight. However there are also reports where many doctors advise against them.

Personally unless my jaw is wired shut....I'm eating solid food.

I thought about it when I was first saw this about a year after it came out. It seems feasible.

    However.... IMG3479118040542398306.jpg

    I love to eat.

But I did get a Ninja beverage blender before the nutribullet craze hit for my protein shakes and it does a good job of keeping solid bits emulsified in the juice to still get fiber from the pulp but I only use spinach or Kale for greens and usually apple or pineapples to keep it palatable. I was doing that to skip having to cook and chew veggies. It's a good time saver for that. But couldn't imagine drinking it full time. Maybe 2 weeks if was going for beach ready but I don't think that's long enough for it to be sustainable.

That documentary was really about life style change.

Agreed. I'm watching the sequel now and while it feels more like an infomercial, it def makes me wanna eat better. I mostly eat okay but def too many frozen & processed foods and not enough vegetables. I get the acid reflux and occasional digestive issues so it may be worth a try to see if changing my diet more will help with that. #GrownManConversation

As for me, I did a diet change. I eat frozen fruits and vegetables often. Every morning before work I make a cup of mixed fruit. I also try to eat Kale with every single meal. I've been eating healthier day by day...egg and wheat tortilla wraps with a side of kale, cauliflower, broccoli, carottc and akaline water.

As for juice drinking, I had a friend always tell me to do it but I tell him for what..I'm already small and don't need to lose weight, you do it. Don't give it to me to do when it's for you...Maybe he might get inspiration if I did it but I wouldn't do it to be honest.

I think you should let your body done what it does naturally and just make healthier food chocies.

Juice fasting is a bit of a fad. There’s a reason why it’s healthier to actually eat fruits and veggies rather than strip them of vegetable matter and fiber through a juicer. I can see juicing as part of a workout plan (energy and nutrients without being too bloated to workout or lift like a meal would entail), but I gave up on that juicing/smoothie kick in college when some motherfucking triathlete friend of mine made me try wheatgrass. I cursed him out and immediately washed the taste out of my mouth with a Pepsi lol.
