FROM USED CONDOMS TO DEAD PIGS, A LIST OF ALL THE CREEPY THINGS JARED LETO SENT HIS ‘SUICIDE SQUAD’ CO-STARS This dude sounds dark and fun! As actors you would think his co stars wouldn't be so freaked out and bothered by his extreme sense of humor. Warner Bros. The Suicide Squad cast assembled at CinemaCon yesterday to introduce their upcoming movie, and as they walked the red carpet prior to their big presentation the cast all reminisced fondly about all the creepy junk that Jared Leto sent them during filming. Here’s a list of everything we know of so far (and everything they’re willing to admit publicly) that Jared Leto, as The Joker, sent to Will Smith, Margot Robbie and the rest of his Suicide Squad castmates. – A video message – A live rat – Bullets – A dead pig – Anal beads – Used condoms – Sticky porno mags – A love letter It should be noted that Leto did not indicate who used the condoms, but it certainly could make for an interesting day as Jared Leto’s assistant. All involved, including Leto himself, seemed to hint that there were even more items they didn’t want to talk about because they somehow were even grosser than used condoms. Robbie said, as Harley Quinn, she got so many weird things, she “can’t even begin” to list all of them. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Killer Croc in the film, says there are items he “doesn’t like to talk about.” When asked by E! a slightly more polite version of, “What the f—, dude?” Leto said: I did a lot of things to create a dynamic to create an element of surprise, a spontaneity and to really break down any kind of walls that may be there. The Joker is somebody who doesn’t really respect things like personal space or boundaries. I guess if you’re Will Smith and used condoms show up at your mansion, that’s certainly surprising. For their part, the cast admits it did bring them together as a group as they eventually stood up to Leto’s antics. Akinnuoye-Agbaje says they sent the poor messenger tasked with delivering a dead pig back to Leto with their own “personalized message.” Whether any of this will make Leto’s performance or Suicide Squad itself any better remains to be seen. But, hey, it at least makes for an interesting bonus feature on the eventual DVD. Suicide Squad opens in theaters on August 5. Subscribe to ComicsAlliance on
Actually I think this is a good idea and a way to get in character. Actors and directors have always used all sorts of tactics
Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson & Sigourney Weaver are actors I recall using extreme forms of method acting preperation in some of their past roles.
Spike Lee also kept the cast of School Daze segragated. The lightskineded Wannabe's were kept in nicer accomodations while the poor Jigaboo's were in something like an Econo Lodge.
I can't say that I was shocked or surprised but I remember reading about the various on set tensions and it left me a little disgusted by certain actresses from then on.
Method acting is definitely something great in nature. I don't think that they were expecting that but should have known what they were dealing with as the previous actors who portrayed the Joker have submerged themselves into the character to give him honesty. Jack Nicholson even says he warned Heath Ledger about what it takes to be in the Jokers mind, so to see they chose this joker and Jared being able to hone in on him is kind of cool. Can't wait to see it on screen.
Actors like Jared Leto are the reasons why I warm to the villains on film, they seem to put more effort and passion into their roles than the actors cast as the heroes who are just nice to look at *cough* Will Smith, Henry Cavill.
I LOOOOOOOVED Heath's portrayal of "The Joker". I could EASILY see myself doin' the same shit, if the real world allowed for villains to get away with the shit that Joker got away with in that movie.
