Raiders acquire Marshawn Lynch in trade with Seahawks

Beast Mode is back and ready to return home.

The Oakland Raiders acquired formerly retired running back Marshawn Lynch on Wednesday in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks, the Raiders announced announced. The Raiders will send a fifth-round pick in the 2018 draft to the Seahawks in exchange for Lynch and a sixth-round pick in 2018.

Upon announcing the news, the Raiders posted a video of Lynch meeting with general manager Reggie McKenzie and head coach Jack Del Rio before leaving the team facility while wearing one of the team's helmets. He seemed impending return in an earlier tweet thanking Seahawks fans and expressing his affinity for Oakland.

Beast Mode retired from the Seahawks after the 2015 season. Lynch, 31, and the Raiders had already agreed to a restructured deal, according to NFL Network.

Lynch still has to file paperwork to un-retire, although that wouldn’t hold up his deal with the Raiders. Lynch was a five-time Pro Bowl selection, including four times as a member of the Seahawks, where he had played his previous five seasons in the NFL.

The one-year deal has a base salary of $3 million and a max value with incentives of $8.5 million, NFL Network reported.

This would be a homecoming for Lynch, who grew up in Oakland and played his college ball at nearby Cal before he was drafted with the 12th overall pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 2007 NFL draft.
