It was clear that after Get Out made a cool $162 million in America alone, writer-director Jordan Peele was going to go on and make more fantastic (and hopefully horrifying) things. After a couple of months of speculation, we now know what his next project’s going to be.

According to a Deadline report, Peele’s partnering with J.J. Abrams and Warner Brothers Television to adapt Matt Ruff’s Lovecraft Country into a series for HBO. Lovecraft Country tells the story of Atticus Turner, a young Army veteran who sets out on a search through New England when his father mysteriously disappears.

While Turner is forced to deal with the very real struggles facing black men living in 1950s America at the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement, he’s also confronted by a series of supernatural dangers seemingly haunting the area he’s traveling to—commonly referred to as Lovecraft Country. The pilot script currently in development is being penned by Underground writer Misha Green.

“When I first read Lovecraft Country I knew it had the potential to be unlike anything else on television,” Green told Deadline. “Jordan, JJ, Bad Robot, Warner Bros, and HBO are all in the business of pushing the limits when it comes to storytelling, and I am beyond thrilled to be working with them on this project.”

Lovecraft Country has already been ordered straight to series by HBO; no word yet on when it might hit the screen.

I'm sorry. I love me some black horror films and I think Key and Peele is pretty funny...but I just didn't like Get Out and have not interest in this.

It was stupid. It was neither funny nor scary and really only seemed to impress people that are sensitive to race.

I hear ya. Im not sensitive to race at all. So much so I sometimes think maybe there are areas I should be sensitive about in regards to race. LOL.

In any case, I agree. I didn't find it funny or scary in the least. But I did find it different and a bit clever. I enjoyed it.

"Get Out" is a film I'll probably ever watch again if it gets played on TV, and I thought the TSA guy was funny and the film was clever overall. I feel like anyone that's outraged about the premise of the film are the sensitive ones. it wasn't that deep or serious. No riots came out of it.

I think you just nailed it. I think that it was at least original and different and that won people over. However, as someone who watches unique and different things every single day...I wasn't impressed. I was told I was going to see a horror comedy. A horror comedy should be funny and scary at the same time...Get Out was neither. It was just weird to me. But don't listen to me. I hated the Dear White People movie...but the show was EVERYTHING!

Get Out was the 2nd best "Get Whitey - Nat Turner-esque" film ever. Django being the 1st.

Someone pointed out to me that I may have been indifferent to the theme because they were straight. I think that could be right as I know I would have been a bit more invested if it was a male interracial couple.
