Floyd Mayweather Rejecting Teen Boy’s Photo Request Over Painted Nails

Over the weekend, Floyd Mayweather was filmed turning down a teenage boy’s request for a photo with him and said it’s because the fan had painted nails.

As TMZ Sports reported, the boxer was present at the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies game at the Staples Center on Saturday. Shortly after the game ended, a young fan approached Mayweather and asked if he could get a quick photo. “You got painted nails, I don’t take pictures with guys with no painted nails,” he replied.

The moment was recorded on video, and his security can be seen telling the fan to get back just seconds after Mayweather made those comments. “Damn bro, why you a homophobe,” the fan said after the interaction. “Floyd doesn’t want to take a photo with me ‘cause my nails are painted. Bruh, really? I didn’t mean tor rush him like that.”



Witnesses to the awkward interaction told TMZ that Mayweather did take photos with other fans present at the game. It’s unclear why a dude with painted nails is such an issue for the boxer, but he has come under fire for homophobic comments in the past.

In 2017 Mayweather called Conor McGregor a “f*ggot” at a press conference in London. He later apologized and said he has “nothing against gays or lesbians at all,” and claimed that McGregor had called him a “monkey” off-mic. "I apologized, but him calling us monkeys, you have to realize, we went through years and years of up and down," he said at the time. "Black Americans went through a lot. But I'm a strong individual.”
