Does anyone here have a project car/truck they are working on, or have completed? Post em up!

Im currently building my GTI into a sleeper of sorts. It looks stockish on the outside, but it can hang with some of the mustangs and camaros I come across at the "track".

Clean MKIV. Is it a VR6 or 1.8T? What mods have you done so far?

It's a 1.8. Hybrid turbo, suporting mods, downpipe to stock muffler, and suspension. Its ~240 whp and low 13s on slicks right now. I'm looking to get my engine build and a real turbo sometime soon... Want to get this car to the 11s before I get rid of it.

Sweet. I'd love to build a project car. I'm too broke at the moment. Maybe in a couple of years I'll be able to do so.

Preciate it @Cyrus-Brooks. It can get to be kind of expensive, but I make some sacrifices in my daily life to be able to afford it. It will all come in time tho. What would you want to get??? I'm getting the itch motorcycle itch I think.

I thought about getting a motorcycle since they are cheaper. It's cheap spead. I really want to get another Nissan Z-car or S-car back the 90s I had a 280ZX (S130) and had a 240SX (S14) about 10 years ago. S130s are still cheap and available 240s are becoming increasingly difficult to find and more expensive.

Thats whats up. Nobody really does the 280zx justice stateside. All the nice ones I see are in japan. 240's definitely have a drift tax added, but its for a reason. They are the perfect canvas to make whatever you want. Nissans are nice, but I'm more of a rotary fan myself.

You're right 280ZX (S130) and 300ZX (Z31) are neglected by American enthusiasts for the most part. The cool looking ones your see are in Japan which is why I want one l. The 280 is still cheap since no one is really buying them to modify them. The value for 1st gen Z-cars is starting to skyrocket. If you like rotary cars. You better snatch up an FC3S RX-7 now while they're still relatively inexpensive. They're starting to make a comeback among American enthusiasts. The prices are going up as more people are modifying them. I'm also thinking about Lexus IS300 (JCE10) or Supra (MA70).

I can talk about this all day. lol. I think that the rotary engine will keep people away from fc's for a while. Most people see rx-7's and rx-8s as needing an engine swap form the get go. So for now, prices will stay somewhat reasonable. Seems like all late 80's / early 90's turbo cars are going up in price, which is a good thing. I've been seeing a few r32's around and a couple other JDM vehicles, so I hope that the 25 year import rule give us a little bit more to chose from.

That's because rotary engines are not nearly as tolerant of abuse or neglect as a piston engine. They also tend to have short durability between rebuilds, rebuilding them is expensive, not every mechanic can work on them, or tune them properly. So when most people aquire an RX with a blown apex seal they just swap in a SBC V8 or Toyota 2JZ and call it day. Only true rotary fanatics stick with them. It sucks we have to wait 25 years to import grey market cars. I'm starting to see R32 Skylines in my area as well. One dude near where I work at has a Nissan Cefiro (A31).

This has always been a dream of mine ever since I was little my dad and most of the man in my family used to tinker around with cars, bikes and other stuff. My dream is to build a house, a car and a bike all before the age of 45.
