I'm not saying there aren't addictive behaviors, and I'm not saying that watching porn can't be one of them. However, I prefer any declaration and analysis to be empirically based, not based on the politics and culture assumptions of the left (certain feminists and elected Democrats) or the right and conservatives. The left and right extremists want to paint ALL porn involving legal-age models and adults as being socially and psychologically evil. I'm not buying that argument. In a nut shell (pun intended), basically if you forego activities to the degree that it is demonstrably ruining your life (loss of income, family and friend relationships, inability to take care of self), then it's probably an addiction. If you like surfing the seedy side of Internet Town on Tumblr a couple of days a week...not so much.

One of my buds is a trained behavioral scientist who, like us, is black and gay, and deals with such addictive and trauma-based behaviors. Conversations with him have kind of made me do that over-age-25 eyeroll that you hate (lol) to this topic, as he's given me so much more scientific insight based on treating behaviors across the sexual spectrum, gay or straight, married, unmarried, etc.
