I actually enjoyed this. Been feelin Tripp since that reality show. 100% my type of dude.

Brodney is actually really handsome, but sounds like a 12 yr old girl. Sorry, not sorry.

I like the juan n gee dynamic and the fact that theyre using their years long relationship as a platform to come up. Visibility matters. However, Im personlly not feeling them dedicating their ball to the ballroom community this year. Everything gay doesnt have to be for EVERY gay under the lgbtrnsgdkfneianzn___ umbrella. U can't just be an accountant, doctor, mailman, hairstylist OR bartender who HAPPENS to be gay and uninterested in super stereotypical gay shyt, and still get to kick back.

I also feel like, while not a couple, but esp w the roundtable approach, @Nick Delmacy n @Ockydub could have ran this lane for years, esp as legit masc dudes. I understand the disinterest in universal visibility, but I also get that this many years in, wer'e STILL talking about the lack of diversity/masc men being willing to rep.

 

On second thought, I'd rather just read the comments than listen to these guys babble...I mean, we have an overly "pretty" ATL socialite and a neck & hand tattooed softcore porn actor moaning about the difficulties of dating in ATL.

 

Yea I remember I saw this vid for all of 5 min when it came out. I couldn't watch it any longer than that because the main dude (XEM) annoys me for some reason. I think its a combination of his voice/personality and the fact that he reminds me of a TROLL Doll.

No bueno on anything he does, I'm good.

 

Just watched most of this (skipped the advice interludes) and I feel like I wasted a lot of time. Too much on that Brodney "dating" topic. Poor editing, way too long.

Tripp barely said anything (because of Brodney) and the couple things he did say were messy and hypocritical: 1) Being a young opportunist gay dating an older banker who he knew already had a family and 2) the irony of a porn actor being turned off by a dude merely having the Jack'd App on their phone.....Dude, you have simulated sex in poorly produced black gay web series, THAT'S THE TURNOFF!

Atlanta folks make it seem like they would be better off finding a partner in Arkansas or something.

I hate how dating has become such an ambiguous term. It shouldn't hold so much weight yet it scares the shit out of people.
I think I'm about over the term "talking" too, that shit is wack and a cop out. If we're going out on numerous dates and not just hooking-up then we're freaking dating - meaning the activity of getting to know each other and explore romantic possibilities. It doesn't mean we're in a committed relationship about to plan to live our lives together. But we can definitely talk about that if that's where you want or don't want to take it. I just want people to relax.

I'm def. going to approach the way I date differently next time by 1) being more upfront, letting the person know that I like them or don't like the way they're treating me off the rip 2) stop allowing myself to be in the confused stage and not be afraid to ask them about our status after a certain amount of time (fuck your scary ass) and 3) stop cutting people off so quickly, with an exception of people that actually deserve no explanation or closure #thugbae

 

No one wants to see a bunch of inshape third way decent looking gay dudes lamenting on not being able to date/find anyone.

I'm petty sure these dudes have requirement that are way beyond what they commonly see.

 

Yea, I didn't watch the whole thing. I feel like this topic is played tf out. How many times are we going film ourselves talking about how hard it is to date. And then to have the gaul to complain about Atl like there aren't hundreds of other cities out there with even less potential.

Obviously not happening anytime soon but -> Honestly, the black community needs a complete paradigm shift as a whole towards supporting our same gender loving brothas and sistas. Only then will the dating pool open up and move away from the extremes of visible gay fems and hidden dl creeps. Although, I will say, the middle ground is slowly opening up...

BTW, I guess i definitely need to get my ass out more at least with all the content online, because I NEVER even heard of these dudes. Juan and Gee. And in doing background after I seen this vid, they have been doing it for over 3 years. HA. I appreciate the candid talk and ability to back up there opinions with the receipts of being certified relationship/life coach. Thats wassup. Glad for them.

That part. I agree absolutely SB3. I often feel there is a sense of disconnect on this site at times with what it feels like it represents. And by that I mean a slight secret DL climate thats the undertone when it comes to Nick and Ock and Cypher Ave. I know the guys are not closeted as they have stated in podcast, but when you see videos like this you can't help but to wonder after all these years of doing this, Nick and Ock have never held a group discussion or panel and it be taped and visually seen as oppose to just hearing voices?

Something about that just seems a bit disingenuous. I understand they may be unwilling to become "gay celebs" but some, even a little visual content of them actually talking and being seen could possibly give their site more credibility and help younger masculine guys in being comfortable with themselves. But I'm sure they heard all of that before. Carry on fellas.

I don't get why people have so many problems dating. Particularly, the gays, black, white, otherwise. I feel like if you are really interested in finding someone that compliments you, it can be done. I feel like a lot of Atlanta gays say they want to find someone but in all reality, they just like the idea of someone. A lot of these fools ain't trying to put in the hard work of being in a relationship and are not being honest about what they want and they have unrealistic expectations. With that being said, I know plenty of people who bounce from one brother to the next and they never have problems and it is not like they are super models.

 

Yea man, this site helped me come out at 31! 30 fukn 1!!! I had spent 99% of my 20s playing dl 'house' and knew that I didn't relate to anything I associated w 'gay'.

All of this from someone who literally toured the country as a dancer/actor/singer w a Broadway play, yet was still playing straight because I didn't click w the several white gays I was around.

But yea, randomly finding this site honestly changed my outlook. In a dl relationship for all those years, I didnt get to have a messy, slutty, 20s where I could consistently meet and navigate other masc guys.

Ive always wished nick n ocky were more forward n visible, but i also understand their feelings of 'wtf are u gonna do for the cause, at least we gave a space?!' And I cant at all relate to trying to run a website (i want my un-smart flip phone back).

Lmao! If you hurt my feelings, I'm gonna kill you...that's why I don't date. Lol. But on a serious note yeh, I didn't start dating until about 3yrs ago when I was 22. And out of those three years, two of them, I was with someone (or I thought). I now just want to be out here actually dating for the first time and just allow myself to be open and available for different experiences. If I get off the market, that would be dope, but I'm not losing any sleep over that I'm not.

Because niggas don't know how to communicate, no one knows how to converse anymore; plus, all niggas want to do is text.

In addition, 90% of them out there are supercilious dickheads with interminable standards and requirements. There are over a million profiles that have an incessant list of, "if you're : ___, just keep it moving.", it's madness. How does one expect to date by trimming nearly 95% of prospects?

Yeah dedicating their event to the Ballroom Scene just drives away so many "middle of the road" gay men who may otherwise be interested in attending or supporting. That's like having the NAACP dedicating an event to Trap Music...true, it is a part of the Black Community, but you can't be surprised if it turns off a lot of Black Americans who doesn't feel as if it represents them.
