I'm sorry but he is starting to sound like a jilted lover who can't get over the fact that someone, who once cared for him, doesn't want to be with him anymore. As a professional, it's never a good luck to engage a blogger/journalist regarding their review of your work. At least to the extent that Lamont is engaging Cypher Avenue. Like a jilted lover, he took the breakup with Cypher Avenue personally when he didn't have to.

Last, despite his attempts to minimize the influence of Cypher Avenue in the LGBT blogosphere, he is demonstrating the vast impact and reach of the articles and reviews written on the site. Based on his overreaction to the reviews(seeking legal counsel), it is clear to me that the reviews had an adverse impact on his business or bottom line. He likes to think his supporters aren't checking for Cypher Avenue but it looks as if many of them read the reviews and believed them, thus overshadowing the public relations spin he put out for his own work. It hit dog does holler and Lamont is demonstrating that he has taken a few serious blows to his ego and his professional reputation.

I may not agree with every article or review written on Cypher Avenue, but i'm proud of the founders for pushing back on these attempts to regulate free thought and opinion on the internet. And if Lamont wants to encourage his supporters to donate to Cypher Avenue instead of donating to his own professional endeavors, then that shows his lack of intelligence. I'm sure he can use the money.

 

LMFAO - get the fuck outta here. Ain't nobody concerned with that nigga. Art is meant to be critiqued and not everybody is going to like your shit. That's not synonymous with them keeping your name in their mouth. The real shade is that he's not even mentioned that much on the site like he's trying to make it seem.

 

This dude still at it? Brih he really needs to let this go.
ALL this energy needs to be Focused on making his artwork better.

What seems to be missed in all of this is that this struggling site is not our careers; however his wack ass web series with non-existent audio is though.

This was petty as hell. Don't get mad just because someone called your web series what it is, trash. I tried to support him, but I can't get over the cringiness of it all.

 

This guy needs a PR team asap. He's not doing his brand any favors by doing this. If anything he is giving CA free promo and more content lmao.

 

Wow you guys @Nick Delmacy and @OckyDub really must've got under his skin. He seems to be making this really personal. Dude is really in his body about this.


I don't recall anyone else trying to come for CA over negative criticism. I thought getting negative critiques was part of being an artist or entertainer just like positive feedback. Sounds to me like someone needs to douche, take a warm bath, and chill pill relax. It's not that serious.

 

So since the videos were short I watched them and now I want to reclaim my time!!!

1. How is mentioning Lamont twice in 2-3 years considered a "need to talk about him all the time"?! He's the one that sent us press materials to promote HIS weak web series. True, I reached out for the podcast interview, but only because I wanted him to defend his work. Most ppl that listened said he came off bad and clueless. But wait, don't business men and artists WANT ppl to talk about their work? All press is good press, I thought.

2. What does "struggling for content" have to do with needing donations? After that Dopeness Podcast interview to now, I'm starting to think this dude has a learning disability. I mean, he doesn't know about copyright law or art criticism...

3. 50,000k subscribers and millions of views yet still no one outside of the small Black Gay Community knows who you are. Even in that community, many only know him by name because we were one of the only sites to promote his work. And every producer/actor that has worked with him that I've spoken to in private told me they thought his work sucked.

4. We're actually working on a site re-design, but this has been in the works since last year (we have Squad Member receipts). So he gets no credit for it when that happens.

5. What exactly does #LGBTfrauds mean? We're not LGBT? So all this time we've been straight men pretending to be gay existing purely to bash his film work? #LearningDisability

6. And can we discuss the #AgingOut hashtag...How do you "Age Out" of blogging? Also, is he getting personal and attacking our age? Because if he is, I think I can find a few personal things about him to attack. Hypothetically speaking, of course. #HeMakesPornWithSexyModels #ToComepensateForHisOwnAppearance

 

Question: Do I really NEED to listen to these videos? Because I have better shit to do...like laundry...

 

Sad. Sorry but mature artists not only need but they appreciate criticism. When I was in the newspaper biz I loved having an editor and critics go over my stuff, it’s like having a spotter or personal trainer, they tighten your shit up.

 

Welllll, I don’t have a dog in this fight since I event watched the show, and therefore, didn’t read the review.

I’ll say, though, that when you put out content for an audience, criticisms (both thoughtful and hateful) are to be expected. People will either like your work or hate it and there’s no way around that. The way you respond, however, is telling and can really do something to your reputation. Just take it or leave it.

As someone who’s had to do it for 4 years, it’s hard to listen to someone point out all the flaws of your work, especially in front of a full class. In the end, I’ve found the harshest and most blunt critiques to be the most helpful.

 

Artist are sensitive about their work, however they should expect criticism of said work from the moment they put it out there. It does seem, in this case and from the video, its more personal.

 

I must thank @takeyourmeds91 for giving me the idea for Pierre's new screen name "offhismeds18" I subscribed to his series but gave up because it just never got better. I listened to the long interview posted here. Cypher Avenue gave him a chance to make his case. He failed. Nuf said.
