Are Good Looking People Jerks?

Gay men are often jerks. Really good looking gay men are often the same story.

 

I think most good looking gay men are jerks.

"How dare you look at the me, even though I am sagging my pants, with a tight shirt and my muscles are bulging out! You are not hot enough to talk to me or look at me you peasant! "

Or" Yeah, I know I'm attractive. " in a dismissal way. I'm super jaded and cynical where it is very hard for me to outright compliment a stranger no unless they are really nice.

 

I don't really think it has anything to do with being gay or straight, I just think most good lookin' dudes are jerks because they can get away with it. You can damn near get away with murder in this country if you are "easy on the eyes". but if you fall further into the "Biggie"/ Jay Z/ Seal spectrum...GOD help you.

 

Truth in everything that everyone is saying but what do you guys think about the two above videos in regard to the jerkdom of the "beautiful"

 

I think it depends. Yes good looking status seeking people are most times jerks. A lot of times people perceive good looking people as jerks without getting to know them based on the stereo type. I also believe that just because some good looking person is not interested in talking to you doesn't make them a jerk but often times that's the view of some people.

 

Very true. I've met some super down to earth dudes that are IG Models, mostly straight guys, tho. But conversely, I've met more than a few super good lookin dudes that really are personality-less, über assholes that have literally gotten by on their looks their whole lives (some str8 dudes, but mainly gay guys). Unfortunately, in most humans, our negative experiences make the most lasting impression. So, we generalize all "lookers" as being shallow, dumb, conceited assholes.

 

I'll admit all day that some good looking guys can be arrogant and standoffish....but over the years I've been meeting very attractive gay & straight men, both in person and online, who have been SUPER cool. Like, unexpectedly cool...

I think it helps that I don't approach any of these guys in a sexual or flirtatious way. For example, I rarely compliment a handsome guy early on, I assume that its a given that they know they are attractive. So I try to get to know the person behind the pretty face and nice body, that usually makes them more open to being cool.

So shout out to all you sexy men out there who are not assholes!

Agreed. I don't compliment anyone, however. I refuse to be seen as one of your "fans", but yeah...this approach does tend to be more effective. But some dudes you can just tell without even interacting, that they're asses. Those I don't even bother with.
