    So, one of the CA homies, @questforknowledge asked my thoughts on why so many of us use avatars instead of photos. Aside from my own obsession w giving gorgeous jail birds a platform, I couldn't really answer much on the question.

    When I thought abt it, it was like, well, mofos DO have 50-11 pics on FB n IG for their 10,000 close personal friends to see.

    So, what do u think? Is it because u mostly saw random avatars when u signed up? Is it because of a level of discomfort?

    For me personally, it was because I saw pretty much, all avatars back in the 'olden days' when I signed up for DC. Yet, while I feel it's my duty to get my avatars exposure for possible future modeling contracts n gigs hosting local 'all white affairs', Im also not adverse, nor a stranger, to sharing my pics on the site.

    It was kind of the same for me. I saw random avatars so I figured that was the thing to do but I'm pretty open to sharing pics. I'm not DL or anything so whatever.

    I think historically on message boards non-selfie avatars have been the norm, even on "straight" sites. Unless they are dating forums.

    Facebook and Twitter were built on self promotion (and narcissism for some people)...where forums were built on the concept of discussions and opinions, the message over the messenger, so to speak.

    That's my explanation for it at least...also its partially the reason that @ockydub and myself don't care for branding Cypher Avenue with our ugly mugs....

    I had a bad experience about 11 years ago. I found someone using my pic on a hook up site on their profile. After that I stopped posting pix online. My various avatars are reflections of me since I drew them all.
