Tuesday as I was coming in my front door, I saw a cicada on its back struggling like a helpless turtle. I decided to bring it in the crib and but it on a curtain just to see what it would do. I was hoping it would finalized its metamorphosis and emerge from its shell as an adult. Literally within 10 minutes it stated to do just that and I was privileged enough to witness the entire process. I later released it to go and find a mate. Pics below.

Fascinating and thanks for the share. It does one good to take the time to notice the little things especially something like this occurring in nature.

Wow! Amazing pictures. Is this the type that emerges after 13/17 years?

Yes it is. Another reason why I wanted to witness it first hand and up close.

@OckyDub I didn't even know there was a green phase. It seems this one is a stray. But have you been fortunate enough to experience the mass emergence in your area before.

Bro...I love that you took the time to document this process and share. I've seen them molting before, but got bored and broke out after 5 minutes LOL
