You called this man "Santa Clause." Wow. But, yeah I am not feeling anyone-but leaning towards him. Really good podcast.

LOL at @Ockydub's losing battle to discuss media and pop culture's differing reactions to Beyonce and Kendrick's police brutality-referencing videos.

"Formation" got more attention than "Alright" because she has a larger, more vocal fanbase. The song and video have more easily digestible, buzzworthy lyrics and imagery. He just doesn't have the buzz or type of fans to have a video garner lots of blog and video reactions. Plus, Beyonce topics attract lots of attention so some outlets and Youtubers might just be trying to get hits or following the hype.

I've seen "Formation" called an "I don't give a fuck" anthem and that the Red Lobster line is part of Beyonce embracing her blackness, which could be considered topical and linked to black pride but, yeah, the lyrics wouldn't be out of place in a typical hip-hop video where Beyonce "slays" her haters by bragging, shaking her nicer than average post-baby booty and flashing handfuls of money. That's another thing. A song talking about haters and paper will get a louder reaction than Kendrick's hopeful one about the struggle.

It's funny that she used the hype for what some call one of her most meaningful songs and videos to slyly announce a tour in a Super Bowl commercial. Smart use of hot topics for hype and commercial gain. She managed to get more media attention for a single song's video and performance than her husband's artist Rihanna got for putting out one of her better received albums after an unusually long wait.

LOL at something a friend posted on Facebook:

So on a Podcast where Beyonce is used as the picture, her name is in BOLD caption we are falsely lead to believe it's a discussion of some sort about her or the issue surrounding her video, when it is ACTUALLY a 12min argument deciding IF they should talk about her!?!

Like why do Masculine gay men feel/think just mentioning her name, being part of an active or even passive conversation involving her is some kind of poke at their masculinity? I might be wrong but that is how it comes off to me. I might not care about Beyonce however I can still have a conversation about how her influence has brought about Race debates and issues about being black on a high level and the trickle down effect it will have on me at he lowest end of the ladder, cos if she feels that at the 'Unfuckwithable' level she is financially and she STILL has to deal with race??? Then the issue is larger than her. She is just however a 'tiny' voice to a larger issue and POC whether masc4masc, Queer, Homosexual, unspecified or Amoeba should be able to at least relate at that level.
    Just my 2,broke ass, cents.

I know they say that you can't change gay, but in Nick's case it may just be easier to have them do some type of brain surgery to try and make him straight(er). Masculine women lol..masculine wood, masculine trees, masculine grass. LOL!

I mean he was timing how long that 'the one who shall never be named' could be discussed. lol. Is it really that deep? Both this one and the other one involved a lot of arguing. I think people are overreacting to her performance. Big deal. She is the new Madonna and knows how and when to market herself. So she had a pro-black show..big deal. It was toned down and they were not exactly carrying machine guns or anything.

Not to bring up something that is apparently completely irrelevant , but what has she done for the gheys that they so worship her?

Damn I found this gem: Beyoncé Ignored the LGBT Community in Houston

This 'worship' is what I don't get. lol. Huff 'Queer' Voices.

    * I think the guy who wrote that would be the perfect match for Nick! LMAO!

My face when I interact with a male that starts diva worshipping (Beyonce, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Mariah, Patti Labelle, Nicki Minaj, Aretha Franklin, etc)...

I agree with you on that part about how mentioning her name is a poke at masculinity when in actuality it was meant to be a conversation about her song and the video.

Okay so i have to say this, but to add to what @Ockydub was saying earlier in the podcast, i believe that the video for Formation wasn't suppose to match the lyrics on purpose, and i have to say that pointing out that one lyric "if he fuck me good, i'll take him to Red Lobster" kinda of makes the your side of what was suppose to be a debate weak, because the visuals is what was about black empowerment and being pro-black, but on top of that there are other lyrics that are about black empowerment and being pro-black, loving yourself for your natural features, etc. just my two cents, good podcast bonus

Yea I totally agree. I see where Ocky was going with this, I would have enjoyed hearing about the topic. Because really their reaction speaks to a larger issue. It's clear after watching the video that white people got all upset because it doesn't relate to the white culture or speak to white folks at all contrary to what you typically find in the mainstream media. Saturday night live did a hilarious sketch about this.

The Expanse was awesome. Jessica Jones was a great look at PTSD from rape, and just how ugly it can be to be a super hero. I'm over The Walking Dead (it moves slower than the Walkers and the only progress is which black character is getting murdered that half season and who's upset about it.) Sense 8 is enjoyable, but it's a lot to process. American Crime is great but it's putting me through the emotional wringer.

    This was good.

well this is it. Just like Madonna. Great at marketing themselves, great at getting cult-like status, great at making $$$$$.

That clothing part really ices the cake for me-gotta get those $$$$. And that is ok. But it is, what it is. And that article made some good points.
I also think people(white) are overreacting to the half-time show. The police boycott thing is ridiculous-she wasn't saying kill cops, and they do have to own up to their shit.
