Addressing the convo:

I was being overly facetious in a way but it was rooted in some truth. My distrust doesn't stem from what they look like. It stems from how they have treated others as a group worldwide. They're the reason why people of color have historically had a low self-worth world-wide going as far as to bleach their skin and deny their heritage. They're the reason why minority groups feel there is a tier system among each other with Black folks always being at the bottom of the totem pole and whiteness the standard. Even more simply, they're reason why a white supremacist is in office. The list is endless.

If you found love in a white man or woman, I'm not going to take that from you and would genuinely be happy for "love." It's just not my cup of unsweetened tea.


@Lancer And emphatically saying "black men ain't shit" only further perpetuates our lack of love for the black man.

 

That's a false equivalency. I have no sympathy for white people. Culturally and on the world stage, they are considered the epitome of beauty. If a couple of black folks say they don't want to worship white dick and cooch, there will be plenty of other white folk worshippers of all ethnicities to pick up the slack.

 

Well, okay. I'll be honest. I don't find White Americans attractive. I think quite a few of them are sneaky, and the women are even sneakier, while the non racist gay ones just fetisize Black men.

I live Black men..and not just Black American men. I like dark Blatinos, Blasians of a darker shade as well, Native Indians and much more.

Now I didn't say I found white people ugly or anything (I've seen some good looking ones too) but them MF's are crafty & deserve a close watching..(just like they watch you and your kind in an expensive store.) Not saying their aren't some sneaky blacks either...The white ones just have a documented track record

I do always wonder why the black athletes are usually attached to white parties.

 

Just do what feels right. It's hard enough finding someone you click with. If he just happens to be white, don't let that stop you.

But, be prepared for all the things that having a white partner entails. They may be cool with you, but have you met their friends and family? Do they do super white things? Do they just not "get" certain things. I personally don't go out of my way to date white men. Never actually dated one. Don't want to be another one of those sad white boy chasers. But, I wouldn't 100% close myself off. More like 98%. lol.

I've never had that dilemma because I don't find white men attractive. I'm suspicious of white dudes as a general rule. From my observation most of them have some level of latent or overt racism no matter how nice or progressive they may appear on the surface. Gay white men are just as bad if not worse than straight white men. They seem to fall into 2 categories they're looking to fulfill their BBC fantasy or they wanna fulfill their plantation slave master fantasy. They just give me the heebie-jeebies. Don't be surprised if the N-word comes outta his mouth at some point.

 

For the rec I have never dated anyone white. If one is not attracted to white people or any other race than their own that's fine. But if you can have sex with someone of a different race then dating them shouldn't be a stretch.

A lot of black people get caught up on their ideals but got cold beds. If you can pick and choose from a bunch of black guys then great but if no one else is knocking on your door ...

While I generally agree with @takeyourmeds91 and @Cyrus-Brooks i know a couple of bros married to white dudes who don’t forget their roots. That’s my personal preference as I hate being ‘the other’ when family etc are brought in to the mix.

If you actually get along, don’t overthink it. Just don’t become one of those overcompensating negroes like Johnathan Capehart who becomes super black because they themselves are secretly ill at ease.

 

I think I agree with the others. I’ve also held that blacks for blacks mindset lol. But when you find someone that you vibe with so well and they seem like a genuinely good person, I’m all for exploring that.

 

Damn some of y'all sound just as bad as white ppl when they are describing their views on us. Not saying some of them don't fit or deserve the shade either. Me personally I wouldn't, if I was single, have hold ups about dating a particular race anymore, especially after realizing that there is a lot of things I'm interested in that a lot of black men aren't. I also feel like if I was to date someone outside my race I would prefer them to be at least aware of our cultural differences. Like I say with most things in life don't limit yourself because you might miss out on what your looking for.

ps I tired of the "every famous black man ends up with a white counterpart" stuff. Its really old, I see black couples all over. I think CA even had a post celebrating black gay couples. The gag is (keke voice) half of the people complaining can't keep a black relationship, in other words be the change you want to see.

 

In my opinion, just go with the flow and enjoy it. He stepped up to you, so he must have seen something in you that he likes. He meets all your requirements and standards, and I understand melanin is an important factor for you however no melaninated dude is knocking on your door now. A bird in hand, is worth two in the bush.
