No I don't think you're being overly sensitive @acessential . You have a point. Being a gay man is still regarded negatively and these jokes about male homosexuality are subtle and often not so subtle put downs. These type of aggressions have to be confronted. Hostility can't go unchallenged. Doing nothing only so invites further hostility and aggression on the part of so-called straight people.

I think that when people perceive gays to be weak this also helps make it a joke.

If "honey punks" and "dick in the booty ass n!ggas" are weak, they have probably had plenty of experience with throwing hands. I wouldn't advise a straight person to underestimate a gay person's ability to defend themselves, at least one on one.

 

I think one of the problems is that gay men don't regularly engage in sexual conversations in the same fashion as straight men have with each other. No one talks about gay sex. Except for those religious fanatics and closeted politicians.
