Ok during my search for new hip hop I came across rapper Le1f( he has millions of youtube views_) Have to be honest... His pretty wack compared to real rappers like lasto. So it's got me wondering why he is so popular. His feminine from what I can tell. Is it that our feminine brothers are more supportive of rappers like him? Or maybe this is what mainstream gay hip. Hop looks like?

I can't say that this isn't hip hop...but I can agree that its wack. To each his/her own. Le1f has a solid fan base, which is way more than some traditional hip hop artists can say. But yeah, I'm not feeling his music or the performance. What draws us to music is that we either relate to the artist, the music or the lyrics...none of those three elements apply here for me.

i wouldn't say that he is mainstream hip hop it is more so because of his strong fan base, like Nick said. Also i actually like his music along with Mykki Blanco they're different and a whole lot better in my opinion, than these mainstream corporate slaves, i mean "rappers" that are out on the radio today.

As a hip hop head I would say compared to what's being pawned off as hip hop these days I don't see why this wouldn't have any value. Is it good... Nah but neither is Future, Migos, Fetty, etc but many still rock it. I say let the man be great if people enjoy it cool for those folks.

Looking at what both you and Nick have said, its coming back to a loyal fan base. Gay artists especially Hip-Hop artists need people to tell others about them. Maybe word isnt getting out because the "hardcore" hip hop fans are listening to earthtone in the closet

Now this is interesting. He definitely speaks to the unique individual expression us millennials and Gen Z thrive for. While I'm not totally sold yet, I see the potential. Anybody who studies the music industry knows the tide is turning and a new wave if ish is coming through. And we also have to think with cultures becoming more excepting and not giving a damn about sexuality fem or masculinity to degree, a dude like him can blow up. I work sometimes with kids and college. Many times when I ask them about things, the response concerning sexuality is "do you" or "but they mad cool" or "I respect what they doing". Again they could give two shits...lol

:whut:For me...this shit is WACK. Not only can you barely hear him (in the video or on Letterman's show) but its like with all his "movements"...he still has no energy.
