When you have a greedy powerful 1%-ter calling you dangerous, you know you have tapped into something. ********** The head of a major banking firm is “feeling the Bern” but not in the way many of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ voters are. Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein said Sanders is tapping into class-based anger against growing inequality and called his candidacy a “dangerous moment.” Blankfein was speaking Wednesday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” according to Politico. “It has the potential to personalize it, it has the potential to be a dangerous moment. Not just for Wall Street not just for the people who are particularly targeted but for anybody who is a little bit out of line,” Blankfein said. “It’s a liability to say I’m going to compromise I’m going to get one millimeter off the extreme position I have and if you do you have to back track and swear to people that you’ll never compromise. It’s just incredible. It’s a moment in history.” In January, Sanders was asked to list examples of corporate greed, and he listed Blankfein, according to Politico. Blankfein said he doesn’t “take it personally” because he has never met Sanders. But Politico points out that there’s an awareness of the anger against the so-called 1% that arose and continues to simmer after the 2007 mortgage crisis that led to a widespread economic recession.
His statement is pure laughable. So universal healthcare and free college is dangerous . So Finland, Sweden, Canada and wait for it Cuba are "dangerous". He's just scared that him and some of his buddies might be put in jail for some of the dangerous stuff they do. Maybe class based anger would help to push more policy that would help some poor people. Its hard for a lot of people they just want better life. For being the most wealthy nation we must learn to shear the wealthy which I think scares wealth folk cause they like of robin hood.
Of course the CEO of GoldmanSachs says the movement surrounding Bernie Sanders and the 99% is "dangerous" he represents the interests of the wealthy ruling elites who want to force the vast majority of us into a modern version of feudalism. Unfortunately too many people in the middle and working classes listen to what these 1% ers have to say because they're under the delusion they're going to be millionaires and billionaires someday. In the last 60 years there has been a concerted effort to fool the American public by equating socialism with communism. Many of America's allies are socialist like Canada, Germany, the UK etc. It's a false dichotomy between capitalism and socialism. A country can have both. Most countries that are socialist have happier citizens who are better off.
...Sanders is tapping into class-based anger against growing inequality and called his candidacy a “dangerous moment.” ... ...“It has the potential to personalize it,... Well good that he is tapping into that anger...and it should be 'personal' as it is personal to the people getting/having gotten screwed. This guy is nuts. Love how he says it is dangerous, but doesn't say that it isn't true. Only dangerous for a POS like him.
It would be great if Bernie could incite a class-based rebellion. Sadly, the U.S. seems to be the only country where those who have no hope of achieving the "American dream," have been duped into voting against their collective interests. Universal healthcare and free education (college and/or the trades) benefits society as a whole. It's a shame that folks who never had to pull themselves up by the bootstraps (e.g. the Koch brothers, Bill O'Reilly, etc.) have convinced a large swath of America that 'a rising tide lifts all boats' is a crock of sh*t...
In a way, his right what I think he doesn't see and a lot of people also is that it's not just Sanders that is tapping into this anger, it's also Trump. His run is a joke but that joke is very much based on the same kind of frustration that people have with the way Government governs. Whether it's Clinton, Sanders or any other candidate that gets theWhite House politics is changing has change we just need to see how much.
