Hillary Clinton is now the Presumptive Democratic Nominee for President of the United States. And she earned the fuck out of it.

She has won more states than her competitor Bernie Sanders. She has won more pledged delegates than Bernie Sanders. And, probably most importantly, she has garnered 3,697,234 million more votes than Bernie Sanders.

Bernie wanted a “political revolution” and the people were like, “Nah, we good.”

Namely, those voters who shrugged at Sanders’ message were Older Americans. And Black Americans. And Latino Americans. And LGBT identifying people. And people in densely populated cities and states. And many more…except for the “young people.”

Yes, the “young people” that cable news pundits and data journalists have been echoing that Clinton is losing. The demographic that they claim is so crucial to beating Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump in the fall general election. The same “young people” that detractors point towards to say that Hillary Clinton is not “energizing the base of voters.”

Let’s put aside the fact that Clinton has been leading in the National Dem Polls since her announcement into the race:

    Presidential Candidates | InsideGov

Instead, let’s discuss the main contradiction in Clinton’s so-called “young people” problem. Them niggas apparently don’t vote.

For months now my social media feed has been painted with links and photos of the huge crowds that Bernie Sanders has attracted. These images are often captioned, “What the mainstream media doesn’t want you to see.”

Okay cool, Sanders’ rally with 30,000 attendees didn’t cut into my viewing of a new episode of Judge Judy, conspiracy confirmed. But why didn’t all those people, and more, show up to actually VOTE for their beloved candidate when it mattered?

A friend of mine, who is a staunch Bernie supporters, sounded genuinely bewildered why Bernie supports would stand out in the cold for hours to hear him speak, but not bother to show up to the polls.

Here’s a (possible) explanation for that: The people at his rallies either don’t care to formally participate in the process…or many of them aren’t actually old enough to do so. I wonder just how many of those “young people” are actually old enough to even vote?

Let’s say they were all actually of legal age to vote in their respective states, that still doesn’t mean that they will vote.

While I’ve always been pretty into politics since I was a “young person” (thanks to television shows like Saturday Night Live and that old British political puppet show Spitting Image), I never actually bothered to vote in an election until the 2000 Bush/Gore election. I’m living proof of how unreliable a voting block “young voters” are.

So over the last 6 months I watched CNN and MSNBC hosts ask pundits how Hillary Clinton will overcome her youth vote gap…but they never once asked how a Bernie Sanders nominee could overcome his “older voters” problem. Older voters (35 and up) are the most reliable and plentiful block of voters. ESPECIALLY old-ass Black voters. Bernie has had zero love from them since Day One.

So even if these die-hard, Bernie or Bust, young voters keep saying they well never vote for Hillary Clinton in the General Election, whose to say that they would have even voted for Sanders? They clearly didn’t do so in the primaries. Not in the numbers needed to make a difference, at least.

Who The Fuck Cares What Bernie Sanders Wants?!

So this brings me back to my initial question. Who The Fuck Cares What Bernie Sanders Wants?!

As I type this, cable news pundits keep asking, “What does Bernie want from Hillary Clinton and the DNC?”

My rss feeds are filled with titles like this:

What Does Bernie Sanders Want Now?

    What does Bernie Sanders want?

What Bernie Sanders Wants – and What He Can Offer

And not once is anyone saying, “No wait, Clinton has convincingly won this primary, the question is what does SHE want?”

He’s the loser. Many of his supporters don’t even vote. Who they fuck cares.

Bernie, take your ball and go home, we have plenty others:

Seriously though, this notion that the winner of a competition has to kow-tow to the loser and their fans at his/her awards ceremony is ludicrous.

Imagine if the NFL’s Denver Broncos had to bend over backwards for the demands of the New England Patriots after beating them in the AFC before moving on to also very convincingly beat the Carolina Panthers in the 2016 Super Bowl.

Peyton Manning: “Even though we beat you, New England Patriots, what do you want us and the NFL to do for you and change before we head to the next round?”

You see how stupid that sounds?

Elections have consequences. Winners should have the loudest voice and say-so, not the runner-up.

What makes this all so frustrating for me, as a person who doesn’t “hate” Bernie Sanders or his ideas, is that there is an awful lot of hypocrisy going on here.

    1. Bernie has been a proud Independent for decades but decides to become a Democrat when its convenient for him. Then he has the nerve to bitch about the clearly state rules in a system he voluntarily chose to join. If you have so much integrity, stand by the courage of your convictions.
    2. Bernie complains about the primary elections “not being democratic” but the facts show that he’s done best in Caucuses, an election system that makes it VERY difficult to vote. The primary elections this cycle that were open and the easiest have mostly been won (in large margins) by Hillary Clinton.
    3. Bernie railed against the Super Delegates system all year…except when it was clear that he had NO OTHER PATH TO VICTORY. On top of that, the voters have spoken. As stated above, she has the majority in all categories: Popular Vote, States won and Pledged Delegates won. The people don’t want Bernie…yet he wants the Super Delegates, who have NEVER gone against the will of the people, to all become totalitarian and undemocratic.
    The list goes on…

While Bernie isn’t really hurting our chances of keeping a liberal in the White House, he’s still being very fucking annoying. And I’ll be happy once he (and his #BernieBros) finish raging against the dying light and finally go gentle into that good night.

"Bernie wanted a “political revolution” and the people were like, “Nah, we good.”

    Over 11,976,173 think differently.

Props to Bernie (who in September will be introducing a bill to BAN for profit prisons when the new session begins) for igniting and waking up a new generation of voters...you know the actually future contributors, workers, civil servants and leaders of the country.

Q: "Who The Fuck Cares What Bernie Sanders Wants?!"

A: Bernie Sander supporters and voters in addition to the Clinton campaign and her common sense thinking supporters/voters who know they need Bernie's voters so Hillary Clinton can become President.

You know...the same logical questions media asked of Hillary back in 2008 (Whats Next for Hillary? What Does She Want?). The same simplistic inquisitiveness the Obama campaign used to gain support from Hillary and her voters to unite the party. The same rational logic Obama is using right now with his current closed door meetings with Sanders. That's why it's important to know "What Bernie Wants?" DUH!
    confused_black_man.jpg

Hillary's short sighted arrogant supporters who write posts like these will help cost her the presidency a second time. Keep up the good work.

It's sad that you are caught up in this winner/ loser mentality that is empty of any policy that will ultimately enhance our lives. What has Hillary presented that would improve your life exactly? Or is this just a popularity vote?
    :foxxxy:

Also, your football analogy falls flat. The AFC Champion Broncos didn't need the support and help of the Patriots to win an isolated Super Bowl game. Only the players on the field and no one else had control of the outcome. I don't recall Manning throwing a TD pass to Gronkowski. Hillary cannot and I repeat CANNOT win in November without Bernie's support and primary voters.

What is this seemingly definitive statement based on? Your opinion? What empirical data do you have to back this up?

The way I'm seeing it, based on data from the 2012 election (Huffington Post Election Dashboard), the states that Bernie has been winning in LARGE numbers are either rural GOP states that Hillary Clinton has no chance of taking anyway, or they're strong leaning DEM states that will never vote for Trump.

My point in this article is to say that the Dems will come around if its a choice between Clinton and Trump...No need to bend over backwards to appease a stubborn loser and supporters who are clearly in denial about losing this competition fair and square.

1st: Who said they were a majority? Show me where I said that?
2nd: If we're paying for it, then its not free. Presenting an false argument to discredit doesn't then make it truth. Not knowing or understanding the candidate's position but then attempting to make a sound argument about it is ignorant.

Are truth and facts relevant or is this Facebook where you just type anything? Just let me know so I know if I need to just step out of this dialog.

Oh god, I can't escape this shit anywher! Lol. There's some old ass white woman on my bus whining about Sanders not conceding (ironically with a Sanders New York accent not a Chicago nasal accent) and a couple of young bros mean mugging her. Damn, y'all, I'm just trying to get home in peace. I would love to see Nick and Ock do live convention coverage, point/counterpoint. I used to be a legislative aide when I was most of these Sanders voters age, so I know exactly what Nick means. I was the nerd and a dad man out because I stayed up on the issues, voted as soon as I turned 18, etc. Sanders folk are expressing discontent but there's no organization, no GOTV, nothing. The reason why Trump and Clinton will be a hot campaign is because OLDER people vote, most young don't. You want to know where the votes will go, ask some old Medicaid mofos getting that aarp grand slam discount at Denny's. Nick's criticism is also rightly aimed at Trump toddlers as well. Both sanders and trump supporters seem to not understand how organizations, rules, and policies work. Thus, Sanders folk act as if Clinton somehow didn't follow the same rules her husband, Obama. Carter and every national Democratic candidate has followed since McGovern, Trump voters whined about rules too, until their man became the nominee, then they were cool with the rules. it's like when I see my Catholic coworkers complain about their church. You know what the Vatican stands for, so either get with the program or join another religion. Ditto for Sanders people; you have a right to your opinion but if you don't like the rules (including the super delegate rules) then go and start your own party. Or are sanders people lazier than the libertarian, green, and reform party folk who at least work/worked to start their own thing?

You are right I shouldn't have been so definitive. But it's common sense that unless Clinton is able to convince a large proportion of Sanders supporters to vote for her, she’s unlikely to win in November. In states like Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin she will need Bernie voters to win. Obama barely won Ohio and Florida in 2012.

Nah, we no longer discuss politics because he's arrogantly condescending, always tries to talk over the other person, he rarely listens to you, merely waits for his turn to speak and he is almost always wrong with his fact-less, meme-sourced statements and rebuttals.

I've been voting for a over 20yrs...this is the one that changed the game for me.

If voting Americans (dems/repubs) continue to vote against their own best interest, they are in fact deserving of every piece of bad, under handed, disenfranchising, unjust legislation that comes their way. Struggle, oppression and war must taste good.

Props to these crooked but extremely intelligent politicians that have mastered exploiting this clueless populace. I don't have a problem admitting that on some levels I'm a tiny bit jealous that I didn't pick "politician" or "preacher" as a profession. I would be so paid.

Am I missing something? Has Free stuff not been in his stump speeches from the beginning? And don't say "your taxes will pay for it" because many of the lower income Americans who would actually benefit from those programs would pay little to no taxes at all...

Laughable as usual. I just have low patience for folks who say things like "give away free stuff" (just like in this thread here). Like were you not looking at the exact same debate I was looking at and heard the detailed rationale, reasoning and planning or were you just hypnotized by Hillary's shiny pants suit jacket? Or like does your internet break when information is present that proves your narrative false?

    meh...

But it should also be common sense to Sanders supporters that at this point if they sit on their butts and do not vote for Hillary they could very well contribute to a Trump presidency and a ruinous SCOTUS legacy that could last for generations as well, right? I would vote for just about anything as long as it was breathing to keep Trump out of office. There is a reason every. single. white. bigot. is orgasmic that he is going to be the GOP choice. Do you really think his virulent racism stops at 'just' hispanics and muslims? 'Dangerous Donald' is what is important at this point.

Everyone with any common sense needs to get this shyt out of their systems now ....and then come together to fight the REAL enemy. F@ck that bitch Hillary and F@ck that bastard Bernie-but either of them is light years better than the evil that is Donald fucking Trump.

Guilt, shame or fear; none of these should be used to force or persuade a vote for or against a particular candidate.

Props to folks for standing on their integrity and principles and saying fuk these candidates. I'm writing in Bernie and imma keep it moving.

Regardless how you want to label and define it...the MAJORITY of primary voters rejected this proposal. In a democracy, the majority wins...not "the minority lost and gets to dictate what the majority wants."

Yeah, how terrible would it be for lower income folks to benefit from free healthcare and education? I mean, it's not like being a healthy, debt free, highly educated person would lead to paying taxes and contributing to society in any way. Nick, you are so right. If you work 40 hours a week you should not be paid a living wage. They don't deserve any benefits because they couldn't contribute any of their pathetic $18,000 a year income. Such losers. They always want free stuff.

It is not guilt, shame or fear- it is the truth and you know it. And you will be reminded of it constantly and continually if Trump wins. Practically incomprehensible reasoning(or lack of it) on your part here. I notice you did not question the validity of what I wrote, but simply your take on the reasoning behind it. smh.

The current majority of votes have counted toward a democratic party nominee...not the president.

Please, please continue to share your sentiments over all platforms you subscribe to. You're not only helping the party but you're REALLY helping your chosen candidate. Please let the Hillary campaign know she doesn't need Bernie Sanders supporters votes. Please share this post with her and her campaign on twitter and facebook so they can read this and take your excellent advice.

Again, keep up the good work.

This thread is triggering me and causing me to have the trauma of PTSD flashbacks of family arguments from long ago. I will now seek out my 'safe space' to avoid the micro-aggressiveness of this thread. lol

I didn't know low income folks would be the only ones benefiting from those policies? I'm pretty sure tax payers would also benefit.

Also let's not act like the lower income folks don't contribute to the economy. They are paid so low they may need multiple jobs. They are the ones working for McDonald's and Walmart. Working their butts off. They deserve that "free shyt" just as much as anyone else. It's not free, They are what you would call INVESTMENTS.

    Not at all.

Controlled burn: Prescribed or controlled burning is a technique sometimes used in forest management, farming, or prairie restoration. Fire is a natural part of both forest and grassland ecology and controlled fire can be a tool for foresters.

This country desperately needs a do over and the (possible or supposed) horrors of a Trump presidency may be the spark for the needed controlled burn.

There is good and bad in everything.

smh...using free health care and tax funded health care in this context is no different than interchanging gay and homosexual. Why are we playing these games?

    It's complicated
Let's just simplify the argument and say democratic voters don't want his Free or Tax-Payer funded healthcare. While I understand the feeling of Bernie supporters of feeling like their messiah has been hung on the cross again, I don't get this "i'm going to take my toys and go home" attitude. Write in Bernie Sanders' name if you like. That's also part of this democracy but I bet Bernie Sanders doesn't write in his own name because he's looking at the overall picture and not just a democratic primary. *Post Script* I only wish Bernie had joined the Democratic party years ago so that he could've helped create the rules he's pushing for now, at the last damn minute.

We all know that Bernie's Job was to make this DNC run to the white house not look like a coronation/walk in the park for Hillary. Sanders brought some valued points and needed critiques. My only prob was he should of put himself out there much earlier and Hillary would of had a real fight. But politics cant be compared to sports. Your talking about running a country and needing ppl from different groups (Dems, GOP, Ind) to do favors for you got get things done. The Broncos cant go ask Cam Newton (or Steph Curry) to veto Hb2 and they will give them more funding for education in return. Politics is about you help me out and I will look out for you in the future.

While I agree with some of this, your candidate (Hillary Clinton) is a bloody turd.

I'm now looking into the Green Party's Jill Stein. Its sad that candidates with morals, integrity and common sense lose because the American people are addicted to voting against their best interest.

Here's the thing with this thinking....you speak as if you're sitting high on the mountain and you're dictating what's against the interest of everyone else. Have you ever considered that this thinking comes off as condescending to the millions of Americans who don't find a third party as the best way to go now? So 1% of the population, Green Party, know what's best for everyone else? I find it hard to believe. Even if you're right on the merits of Green Party members being the only ones voting in their own best interests, why can't these brilliant people find a way, successfully, to build their party into a viable option for those who do feel left out by the two-party system? I believe that if you want people to follow you and trust you with governing the country as a whole, you should be smart enough to create a viable party with ideas that can be implemented through the Congress that we have and not the Congress you think it should be. Until then, most americans, including myself, will see the Green Party and Libertarians as disgruntled and angry know-it-alls with no concrete plan to change that perception.

But their hearts are in the right place. I will concede that point and only that point.

All this anger, tension and stress (over candidates that, when all is said and done, probably don't give two shyts about any of us).

Humans need to be more like Bonobos. They don't argue and punch their shyt away, they just fuk each other until the peace accords are signed.
