Premiering February 7th, Horror Noire brings to the screen the acclaimed book by Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman. Directed by Xavier Burgin, Horror Noire discusses the history and depiction of Black people in Horror. Just viewing the trailer brought back so many memories while acknowledging the trope that “the Black person is gonna die”.

    The press release states:

HORROR NOIRE takes a critical look at a century of genre films that by turns utilized, caricatured, exploited, sidelined, and embraced both black filmmakers and black audiences.

Featuring interviews with Ernest Dickerson (Bones), Rusty Cundieff (Tales from the Hood), Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us), Tina Mabry (Mississippi Damned), Tony Todd (Candyman), Paula Jai Parker (Tales from the Hood), Keith David (The Thing), Tananarive Due (My Soul to Keep), William Crain (Blacula), Richard Lawson (Scream Blacula Scream), Rachel True (The Craft); and authors Tananarive Due (My Soul to Keep), and Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman, among many others.”
