Definitely have to always meet in a public place. Even if just for a few minutes. I would never have someone come directly to my place or vice versa even if I were hooking up. I would have to be seen with you in person on camera at somebody's Walmart.

Okay so I have a question since this thread exists lol. For those those of you that have profiles on these kinds of apps, how do you get through that awkward first interaction with certain people? I've had a couple of chats where the guy's profile has nothing about himself for me to start a conversation so I'm stuck with the "How was your day?" "What are you interested in?" questions. Is that good or bad, because I feel like an interviewer sometimes and don't want to ask too many questions but at the same time we gotta talk about something! Hate when someone approachs me and only wants to give one worded answers...

I used to date a lot through AOL chat rooms, ebonymale and then Adam4Adam. I see not much has changed personalities wise from that generation to today's, just the technology and platform.

Back when I was doing the online dating, it was accessible but not as readily or widely known, the ability to find out so easily so much about a person based off of giving them your address or phone number.
I was never worried about someone coming through to my place because they weren't making it out ok if they didn't know how to behave.
If you're going to meet someone nowadays, you should do it in a public space like in or outside a library, book-store, hospital with a lounge, firehouse, police station or court house, the Walmart like you said or any major store like that.
