NICK'S ADVICE: Be Grateful For What You Have

This statement is so true. Sometimes I get frustrated Im not at the place where I want to be in my life. But I have to remember others would love to be where Im at.

 

I am getting a complete blank as Nick's actual post on this. Is this some kind of media that is being posted? If so, is there a link so I can view it?(my computer seems to block certain things for some reason)

 

So true. I remind myself of this everyday. There has been heartache but also blessings that have come in my life since coming out to my parents last year. I just exercise gratitude because there is another black gay man out there who would love to just be able to be in school like I am or he would love to just be able to know that he knows he can expect his next meal.

It reminds me of something my brother told me a long time ago. He was at a shopping mall and was complaining to his friends about how his feet hurt. A guy behind him said be glad that your feet are sore from walking. He turned around, and the guy was in a wheelchair.
My brother said he would never complain about his sore feet again after that.

 

Ironically, tonight's Steve Harvey episode presents millionaires age 20 and under. I felt the spirit of jealousy rise up in me strong. I felt weird. Than I saw this and than my soul and spirit realigned back together.

 

This must be the theme of the day....

....I was talking to my friends earlier today and you know yeh, a Challenger pulled up to the car park and I remember expressing to them how badly I wanted one.

Not that there's anything wrong with my car yeh, it's just that, I've had it since 2007 and just really want a new car. Maaann, they went off about "you don't need one", "be grateful you've got a car", ya-da ya-da ya-da.... ....all while three of them n*ggas just purchased new cars this year.


Anyways yeh, be grateful for everything you've got.... ....

 

They all bought new cars...which will immediately begin depreciating in value. Do you need a new car? Is your current car in good running shape and acceptable. Why purchase a brand new anything unless you need it? People buy things for all the wrong reasons. You can use that money for a new car to better use.

Not really at you with this...just saying. You sound like the smart one of the bunch. Delayed gratification is an under-appreciated thing.

Nah nah, my car is cool. It's not that I necessarily need a new car but my car is 9 years old and issues are starting to arise.

Speaking honestly, I just really want a Challenger, it's a hot car and my want for it is mainly superficial. But, I don't really need it....plus, I'm only 24, I don't need a $40k car.

This is something I struggle with daily. Simply because I wish I had my own place, I wish I was in a relationship, I wish that I was living out my dreams. Obviously it isn't time for me and those things to meet yet, but I need to be grateful for the things I have ben able to accomplish in life thus far. Sometimes it is extremely hard, other times its not as bad.

 

I am scrolling through the site. I back across this and decided to read it again- for the umpteenth time. I am sitting on the sidelines of my life and seeing bad plays and call. These types of posts written by creative and respected authors, writers,poets ect. They are the water for the ground.
