Oh man,I'd go back to the 70s.The music and the clothes pull me in everytime.The whole colorful aesthetic of that era just turns me on in a really amazing way.

Well being openly gay during the time these songs were released was of course frowned upon and worse then it is today but people had to deal with it so I figure I would either find a way to cope or not, but to be honest I would love to go back to a simpler time when you didn't have to worry about getting shoot up just going to the movies or something and not have as many technological distractions as we do now..but every age has its pros and cons I suppose. If I didn't have this site I wouldn't be able to meet awesome guys like y'all!

 

Wow I just realized how relationship oriented all my songs are lol wasn't my intention, just a lot of songs produced back in the day did such a great job on beautifully expressing such feelings and usually these type of songs are my favorite!

 

I like alot the music of the 1960s and 70s, but that doesn't make me want to go back to that time period. It had to be a living hell to be gay back then.

 

Yeah when I hear stories from older black gay men about the things they went through back then I know it was not easy.

 

Definitely not.

 

Musically, I'd go back to the 80s. The 80s had computer technology and music merging together and the effects of which we still have today.

This video pretty much puts all of the pop culture of the mid 80s together. And was still in the time where R&B was funky.



Then you have this video which I still think is one of the best directed music videos of all time, not because this person is considered an icon/diva and was a shift to what we'd see in the later in the 80s, leading into the new jack swing Era.



And we can't forget the influence of hip hop and rap from the 80s either.



Then New Jack as previously mentioned.



However I would not want to go back to that Era as a gay man simply because of the unknowns at the time with HIV. I'd rather live in the 70s for that. It seems like the Gays at that time were sexually free to do whatever and those guys fought the front lines for the respect they did get so it would pretty much require being in the NYC or San Francisco Bay area to really live marginally close to what we are used to now.

But it probably was really fun though.
