Power's 50 Cent on Empire Season 2: We Can't Take "The Extra Gay Stuff"

Yeah when I first saw the premiere I was really shocked at "how gay" it was. It made me think about how some people decided to stop watching Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood because of the gay rap couple that is now a part of the show. I did wonder if all the gayness would cause a dip in ratings and it did. That number was the lowest numbers Empire had since either Episode 2 or 3 of Season One. A lot can still be said about having 13 million viewers however because Empire is still outperforming many other shows on Wednesday nights and even during the week (aside from Football of course).

 

I think 50 is just being 50 and taking the opportunity to throw shots but I'm positive that there's folks out there that are having a problem with the "extra gay stuff".

Episode 2 was tame but the premiere I understand. The little lesbian segment was pointless (but I'm sure that wasn't a problem to straight dudes) and having Lawrence on there was a little much but other than that, what is the fuss about? Jamal is one of the main characters. The whole show practically revolves around him being openly gay, in a gay relationship, all while being in the music industry wanting acceptance from his father. What do you expect? People should have quit episode 1 (Season 1) if that was the case.

There's more important things that's wrong with Empire... but of course the gay agenda card will be pulled. Let's take the gays out of Empire and L&HH and black people will still go up for messy/mediocre writing and the same storylines season after season of our people acting like ghetto fools. I mean I'm still riding with Empire until I'm completely checked out, I'm still rooting for it, but I know I'm done with L&HH completely.

 

50 can't help it can he? SMH he just loves being a d i c k... Moving onward, I'm slowly but surely becoming uninterested in watching Empire. Lee's doing the most with the cameos. Seems like everyone and they mama, papa joe and cousin June bug are apart of the show. Like enough is enough.

 

50 is being an ass but he still is somewhat on to something with his comments. Also it may be because the show's formula is becoming tired really fast. After looking at episode 2 of this season, I will not be watching any further.

It's not any objectively "gayer" than last season. It just sucks so far that's why ratings are down.

Who you telling? I'd rather watch Empire than Love and Hip Hop anything, too. Fakery at its best.

 

Im a really avid supporter of giving 'blk' content a shot, (since it comes along at such an infrequent rate) but Empire is no different than Dynasty or Dallas, and I wouldn't have cared abt them either. It's just sooo damn dramatic every episode, and I could really do w/o seeing them perform every damn week. They take waay too long to get to the points, and even still, ur left disappointed.
