I kerfuffled at "you called that bubble vest niğğą a twink"

 

I'm laughing my ass off because you called DeRay McKesson a twink. Let's back up and define twink. Twink: A young or young looking gay male that is usually effeminate and has a boyish face and body. I used think twinks could only be white. Back in the day in porn you only saw soft effeminate white boys called twinks, but it seems the definition has been expanded to include cute boyish nonwhite gays too. I don't see DeRay so being a twink. Yes he's skinny and effeminate but he has facial hair. He doesn't look boyish enough to be twink. To me he's just a run-of-the-mill effeminate gay.

 

Yeah, I 'm with @Cyrus-Brooks on this one. A twink is typically the young man (Looking like a teenager) with the boyish face and body. I'm not sure about fem thin, but the boyish face/body infers a slightly androgynous appearance.

 

You're right they don't necessarily have to be effeminate in demeanor they do have to be a teenager or look like one. I say effeminate because twinks tend to be quite feminine looking. They lack physical characteristics associated with adult males.

 

DeRay does have a frail boyish body. That's probably why hides behind that puffy vest.

 

He looks like the typical genetically skinny guys who no matter what they eat will be thin. The "I have Abs and a flat stomach because I'm skinny" types who never worry about eating too much or bothering going to the gym often because they are malnourished. Lol

But for real... What is he?like 140 lbs?

His facial features are strong but he's still twinkish in my book. Somebody give this guy a Patti Labelle swee patada pie.

 

Yeah that's a twink alright. He looks like you could break him just by poking him. Or that he would float away if the wind blew just a bit too strong!

Right? I feel some type of way. I mean even though I don't think I fall under that category I'm still slightly offended. Just a little bit.

 

I don't feel offended at all. I'm skinny and I'll admit I did look like a twink when I was younger. I hated looking frail, boyish, and being a 140 lb weakling even though i was a grown man chronologically which is why I started hitting the gym to bulk up.

 

Before I got with my ex-my body was almost similar to his. I was a little heavier. But, during the time we were together. Boy, I blew all the way up. That joker could cook. I went from about 150 to 190 which is the normal height for someone 6ft. However, now that we are split up it fell down to 160ish. I am starting to work out again so their is muscle building.

 

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't find Deray to be THAT effeminate. Also, if I'm being honest, he's kinda attractive in some shots, especially his face in the shot with the twitter bird shirt.

 

His face is not feminine. His face is actually quite handsome. But his voice and mannerisms are effeminate though.

 

LOL I didn't say anyone did, I was just saying what I thought of him. That response was kinda shady too... lol

 

Yes, he definitely is handsome. I love the rich dark tone. I didn't even know who he was until this thread started. But, looking at some videos-he does have a "softer" sound than the average man. I am not sure about his mannerisms. He does some good work though.

 

Interesting how I never thought of twinks as it pertains to height, skin complexion or really even masc or fem...only in body type.

 

I honestly thought that twink was just a white gay culture thing.

 

I think that is where it started. I still se white blond androgenous boyish thing when I hear twink.

 

I talked about this in a previous comment. It seems the definition of twink has been expanded to include nonwhites as well I've seen boyish looking black, Latino, and Asian dudes called twinks in porn now as well.

 

Just know that if DeRay came through the ATL like a thief in the night and no one was around to see him, @Nick Delmacy would definitely go out on a date with him. He probably wouldn't tell anybody but I know he would. LOL

Twink: Very thin, typically short men of non-color decent and usually of effeminate nature.
Black Synonym: Power Bottom

 

I always thought the primary characteristic of a twink is thinness. In addition, the term is more likely to be applied to the more effeminate. Otherwise, I figured they can come in any color.

And power bottoms can come in any shape and size. They're just the ones generating most of the power according to that very educational episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia I watched. It can't be a synonym when you can find evidence of black twinks takng a totally submissive bottom role or even running from the dick. And some twinks aren't bottoms. It's a stereotype that twinks have sadly faced since their discovery in the wild.

 

Power bottom is defined as bottom that isn't submissive but plays an aggressive, dominant, and active role in sex

 

I find 1st world feminism to be an annoying self pity fest that bashes boys, men, and masculinity as inherently evil. Many of the women who call themselves feminists are not about equality. They want all the benefits historically associated with manhood in society with non of the drawbacks. Feminist gays tend to be, from my observation annoying, hoity toity, self righteous, snobs with chip on their shoulder who just like to hear themselves talk.

 

I don't think you can say I am for women's equal rights but also attempt to avoid women and those who associate with women. Also I never understood why everyone obsesses over Queer studies. According the Bureau of Higher Ed Stats, there are only roughly 40 institutions in the entire US that offer degrees in Queer Studies and only half of them offer PhDs. In all reality less than 0.0001% of people who get PhDs do so in Queer Studies. That means if you actually meet someone with a PhD in Queer Studies they are likely very rare and probably markedly important to the field.

Note: This same argument can be made for those who pursue Art History

I guess I am saying why are we attacking this guys activism by associating him against stereotypes and non-existent accolades?
