I went to a food festival on Sunday and I was actually surprised that there were a large number of black people there.

I've been going to "white" as well as "black" concerts way before Obama came along, so does that make me PRE racial lol? Being someone who likes all genres of music, I expect to be the "fly in the buttermilk" at times. As long as my physical safety isn't threatened, I could care less about other people's perceptions at a "white" concert are. Musicians are not necessarily their audiences.

But it racially cuts both ways. I never expected to see a lot of black folk at Bus Boys, Fishbone, Living Colour, Bad Brains, or Animals As Leaders concerts because of the misperceptions that they were "black musicians or bands playing white people music." So, venues like AfroPunk serve as much to musically educate black folk as white folk.

As a side note, reflecting on the pun in the article's title, I haven't been able to listen to "The Kids Are Alright" since Pete Townsend got picked up by Scotland Yard for soliciting child porn (which turned out to be the most ironic rock song title since John Lennon's "Happiness is a Warm Gun").

Just to show it's not always white folks being the regressive audience in the "post racial era", it'd be nice to see more black folk in audiences for black or black-led bands in "non-traditional black" music, like Nigerian-American guitarist Tosin Abosi (shoutout to @African King ) and his band. Animals as Leaders

Or any number of other venues, like Sevendust for you ATL folk

Could a sistah in Nashville get a hand?
