They could have stopped at the first line. The rest is gravy.

Most of the time things go south because of failures and breakdowns in communication. Things get misunderstood, taken out of context, etc via text when a phone call or face to face would have provided the proper delivery system for the message and its intentions.

I think this meme is one of those lazy critiques that are often used towards Millennials and younger individuals. My quick snapback to this is if relationships were so easier before we had technology that connects us, multiple layers of communications, more egalitarian emotional appeals and so on, then why did older generations mess so much shit up? My parent's generation chose to divorce and my grandparent's generation stuck with being unhappy until they were too old to be happy.

I dapped the original post as I didn't take it as generational shade but an accurate critique of Americans in general across generational, racial, socioeconomic lines. I don't think know the origin of the meme but your generation is no more guilty of f---in things up more so than predecessors. Every generation "messes shit up" lol, there have been no perfect humans ever.

Technology increased options and made making connections with other people easier but relationships are just as hard as they always were. I do feel folks were willing to settle more back in the day though lol. These days some folks are picky as hell with a list of requirements. This ultimately is a good thing though.

I've come to the realization that I'm decent at every type of relationship except for a romantic one. Hopefully one day I'll meet my best friend. Until them I'm single as fuk and looking.

Yes very true! Its a meat market, if there is one flaw about someone, you know that in a couple of more swipes you can have something better. Intimacy, getting to know someone, etc. is more shallow than ever. We're living in the instant generation, everything is a touch away. I too contribute to this but I 'm trying not to.

I partially agree here. I was a Freshmen in college when FB became a thing, there was no such thing as YouTube, there was no such thing as smartphones or mobile applications. By the time I graduated from college in 2008, all of those things had proliferated like wildfire. Instant gratification only last a short while and newness and novelty wears off quickly. For as many complaints as I read on a daily basis about technology and mobile apps and their relationship to with how people engage in relationships seem weirdly negative. We never read about the cases where people find a match or that grindr hookup that turned into a relationship. Internet dating is nearly 20 years old it is not something that sprung up overnight. I think we should be promoting the idea that relationships are hard work and there is not standard of what is considered #Goals

Intimacy is something entirely different. That is hard to find because we are so stimulated in western society. But go to a place that doesn't have all of the bells and whistles that we normally see in big cities and western countries...go to rural Georgia or Montana and sit in a diner and watch an old couple share a meal and talk to one another without looking at a phone. That is an intimacy that is dying but can be revived.

I think people have become super duper picky when it comes to dating and I'm a little guilty of this aspect as well. Because I think especially with these apps aka the devils tool lol. People will be quick to dismiss you for one itty bitty little thing, simply because what you won't conform to they know the next person around the corner will what people don't understand is true connections take time and they need to be nurtured and fostered. As I always say what you feed will grow and what you starve will die. So it's like what are you feeding on a daily basis? At this point I've let go of the apps and allowing nature to run its course and hope to meet a guy involved in something similar to what I'm doing whether it's the line of work that I do, what I'm doing etc and allow that to be the initial catalyst to bonding us together as a common trait and and taking it from there
