Why do I feel like I have to defend Finn?

    Why do I feel like I have to defend Finn? I need to calm down. I don't know which is worse; the white racists who didn't want to see a black male star in Star Wars or the black people calling the black star in Star Wars a coward, coon or slave.

    I haven't seen the film yet so I can't comment on the character of Finn. I will do so once I've seen it. I'm planning on going to the theater this weekend. That said Star Wars has never had strong black characters. Lando Calrissian was a bit of a shady character. Mace Windu didn't really do much of anything. He did almost kill Palpatine but was still managed to be defeated.

    I saw Finn as a flawed character, which I think was good.
    He was funny and strong but also not afraid to admit his fear.
    When the chips are down he conquered that same fear and stood up did the right thing.

    How often do you get a man of color that is multi dimensional in a movie?
