NFL CommsnrWe are now learning that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell gave only a warning to an AFC East player who was detained over the July 4th weekend after a violent altercation with another male at his home. These new allegations come fresh on the heels of the current controversy surrounding Commissioner Goodell and former Baltimore Raven, Ray Rice’s domestic abuse scandal. TMZ released new video showing the now famous elevator altercation between Ray and his then fiancé in its entirety. Reports now confirm the commissioner or at the least NFL’s head office had the full video in April, which was before a two game suspension was leveled against Rice.

Now we are getting word through anonymous NFL sources and confirmation with the Miami Dade County Police department that officers were called to a residence of an AFC East player in the Coconut Grove community on Saturday July 5th around 2am. Police stated the male victim appeared to have bruising and abrasions to his head, face, neck and elbows. The unnamed player was detained on the scene, questioned but not arrested due to the male victim not being able to give a proper or coherent statement. Police sources stated this was due to the victim being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The victim was taken to and area hospital and released the following Monday.

Around July 9th lawyers for the alleged victim contacted the NFL offices to file a formal complaint and request an investigation. On July 14th NFL representatives apparently interviewed the player at length to gather additional details. Sources close the investigation state when the player was asked if the alleged male victim was his partner or lover, the player responded, “well, we just kick-it and fool around from time to time.” When asked what happened on the night of July 5th the unidentified player stated, “they were just horsing around and due to him (the alleged victim) being intoxicated things got out of hand.”

When inquired have things “gotten out of hand before or if he ever had previously struck the alleged victim out of anger ”, the player responded frankly, “Yeah. My daddy said never put your hands on a woman but he didn’t say anything like that about men. I mean ole boy a dude, he aint no female, so I feel like when he gets outta line, imma beat that ass to calm the situation down.”

Due to the victim not pressing charges for the July 5th incident and only filing a complaint, Commissioner Roger Goodell only gave the player a warning due to a lack of evidence and what he considers hearsay. Sources do say the commissioner was very stern and advised the player to “never, under any circumstances put his hands on a woman.”
