Top 15 Sexiest Bad-Ass Mothafrakin’ Black Men in Science Fiction

scifilst

Science Fiction Movies and Bad-Ass Attractive Black Men are probably my favorite things to look at. So why not combine my two loves into one huge list, right? Sure, lets do it. Here’s a list of my personal favorite roles/films in which Black men played a minor or large role as an Ass or Alien kicking force to be reckoned with!

hm
hm-1

Not too many people know that the performances of the iconic aliens in the films ALIEN (1979) and PREDATOR (1987) were done by black men. Bolaji Badejo was a 25-year-old 6’7″ Nigerian design student when director Ridley Scott picked him up in a bar…not for a night of gay sex but actually for the man to play the the title villain in his film ALIEN. Predator actor Kevin Peter Hall put his 7’2″ frame to good use when he played the title villain in the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film. One would argue that their performances are still being mimicked in scifi films to this day.

15-ricco

Coming in at number 15 is a personal favorite: Actor Ricco Ross as Pvt. Frost in ALIENS (1986). Frost was a minor character in the film, but as one of the few characters of color, he still stood out when I first saw this film as a young black pre-teen. With his M41A Pulse Rifle, he was a bad-ass in virtually every scene he was able to slip himself into. I would even go out on the limb and say that Ricco Ross’ lean 25-year-old frame was probably my childhood introduction to seeing chiseled Abs on film.

The Alien and Predator franchises definitely dominate in frequency on this list. In the first ALIEN film, legendary actor Yaphet Kotto played everyday blue collar working man, Parker. The character wasn’t a tough guy in the traditional heroic sense, yet he still displayed bravery by boldly saying from the beginning that they should get the FUCK off of that Alien infested ship…which is what they eventually ended up trying to do by the end, long after most of the crew was slaughtered.

13-dorn

I’ve always been a Star Trek fan ever since I first saw Star Trek: The Next Generation as a little kid. I was happy to see the series make a successful transition to the big screen allowing actor Michael Dorn display his chops as tough-as-nails Klingon Lt Commander Worf in four films. Its hard to believe that underneath all of that grisly makeup was a very handsome black man. My favorite of his Star Trek films is Star Trek VIII: First Contact where Worf battles the Borg. This is one of the most entertaining and action packed scifi films of all time.

12-billy

In his prime, Billy Dee Williams was one of the most attractive black male actors in the world. Its no wonder that one of the only his character from the original Star Wars Trilogy Lando Calrissian has become so iconic even though he was featured in just a couple handful of scenes throughout the entire series. Having said that, Lando proved to be the sexiest, double-crossing, bad-ass black man in the entire universe. So much so I would love to see an actual feature length version of the mock Lando Calrissian Star Wars film shown in the trailer below.

11-attack

Attack the Block is one of my favorite scifi films from the last 10 years. Its a fun, scary and action packed UK film featuring a great young cast. Amongst those cast members are newcomers John Boyega and Franz Drameh. These two handsome young men kicked serious ass as they transitioned from losers to heroes, saving their “Block” from an Alien invasion.

And here I thought nobody had ever seen Cube. I would have given an honorable mention to the black wolf from Underworld.

I can’t believe I am agreeing with you. WTF no Kevin Grevioux? This man’s sci-fi filmography is ridiculous.

I read an article about Bolaji Badejo. Very sad story.

So glad this dude made the list. Forgot how hot that damn Carl Weathers was. Man this list brings back some memories…kudos! For hotness sake…shouts out to Jason Momoa from Game of Thrones, Star Gate, and Conan.

Great list, Nick! I especially love the inclusion of John Boyega of “Attack The Block.” I had a movie night at my home, screened that film, and all of the Dudes who attended and–had no clue what the film was about–absolutely freaked! (Drinks were served and it was also kinda funny to see who’s so-called masculinity was “optional” during the scary scenes. I had to remind a couple of Mutha F*ckas that they were supposed to be “hardcore, hard rock.” Lol!) Best popcorn movie of 2011, by far!!!

Being a Dude “of a certain age”, I always have to bring some historical context to y’all’s stuff. (Lol!) So how ’bout listing arguably, the first black lead performance ever in the grandfather of all Zombie movies? Duane Jones starred in George Romero’s original “Night Of The Living Dead!” That Brotha was the both the lead and hero of this sci-fi film–which was unheard of in ’68! Not to mention the fact that this performance came in a film that started the whole Zombie film genre to come. In my mind, that’s the only glaring omission in your list, Nick.

I’d encourage your readers to check out the original, “Night Of The Living Dead.” It’s a CLASSIC!

Otherwise, I’m kinda feelin’ your list, Bruh!

In that case he might as well have thrown in Tony Todd.

I love that this list is geeky enough to include The Alien guy and I didn’t know about the Predator. It would have been really geeky to throw in Jar Jar Binks. Fun list @nick

I don’t think y’all heard me! I said DUANE JONES, star of the original zombie movie, George Romero’s classic, “Night Of The Living Dead” should be on the list! He was the hero, he kicked Azz, and–at minimum–he was sexier than Yaphett Kotto, Dammit!

I feel you Dre G! As a kid, I stayed up to watch “NOTLD” with my older cousins one night. Scared me so bad, I wouldn’t sleep alone. Had to go sleep with my parents. Pops was not happy. Saturday nights was his night to “get some” from Moms. Lol!

Having re-screened it several times as an adult, you knew Bruh man’s (Jones) night was not gonna end well when he smacked the Sh*t outta that white girl! (Come to think of it–has Duane Jones even appeared in another movie since NOTLD???) ’68 was the year Sidney Poitier got to slap that old white dude in “In The Heat of The Night.” You know “they” were not about to let another “Ninja” smack another white person in a movie–especially some wimpering-Azz blonde lady!

          Lol!

She needed to get her shit together tho lol i got a sick pleasure from her reunion with Johnny

I havent heard from him since either but at lesst he made his 15mins of fame into a classic role. The ending is so fcked up.i was like “really?!after all that?” I hated it worse tho in the remake when they reversed the fates of him and the white lady

It’s been re-made several times. The only one I remember seeing is the one made starring my DMV homeboy, Tony Todd–who also starred in the original “Candyman”–in the Duane Jones role. But truthfully, I didn’t remember how it ended. Is this the one where the Blonde gets it instead of the Brotha?

Let me know if you know, Bruh….

That’s the one.the girl ran off bcuz she realised the Zombies were slow and when she came back with the rescue party he was a zombie and i was like How yall gone do Tony Todd like that

Dont get me started on (the first) Candyman.that was the first horror film to legitimately scare me

Wesley was hot in Blade. I don’t think Spawn counts as he was covered in burns the entire film. There was the black guy that played Jax in Mortal Kombat Annihilation. Oh, the black guy from CSI when he was in Alien Resurrection. He was hot in that.

Had a crush on Yaphet Kotto as a teenager. So glad you put him on this list!

Maybe he’s not as jacked as Carl Weathers, but he was real charming and sophisticated in Live and Let Die and badass in Alien.

Has anyone seen him play Idi Amin in “Raid on Entebbe?” He’s mothafrackin’ GREAT. So funny, charming, and dangerous.

I don’t know there’s just something about him. mm m mmmmm!

Love me some Yaphet Kotto. I’ll watch anything with him.

I gotta give props to Avery Brooks who played Capt. Benjamin Sisko in Star Trek DS9. Sisko raised his teenage son into a man while saving the galaxy from the Dominion. He built the heavily armed U.S.S. Defiant as his personal weapon of revenge against the Borg for killing his wife. Avery Brooks is a fine azz black man too with deep sexy voice. Gotta give props to newcomer Dewshane Williams who plays cop in the SyFy series Defiance. That brutha is fine and he bangs an alien broad on the show.
