turn-up

Whether it be the club, the radio or banging in my headphones while going hard in the gym, nothing gets my adrenaline pumping more than ignorant, materialistic, drug use promoting, murder bragging, misogynistic, homophobic, hyped-up Hip Hop music.

For all of you who out there who are out of the music loop and need help filling up your playlist for your next workout session, Cypher Avenue brings you our Top 15 Turn-Up Songs of 2013. You’re Welcome.

[Editor’s Note: Please no comments about how this music is destroying the black community, promoting violence or the excessive use of the “N” word being offensive to your delicate cultured sensibilities. No one cares. Fuck off. Its just music. If I see them joints in the comments section I will promptly delete them shits. – Nick D]

15. Migos ft Drake, Meek Mill & Tyga – “Versace”

Drake, Meek Mill and Tyga may be familiar names but I’m sure the rap trio Migos is unknown to most. The group consists of rappers Quavo, Takeoff and Offest, all under 23 years old. While their breakout out song “Hannah Montana” was probably one of the most annoying and nonsensical songs of the year, “Versace” definitely came a close second. Regardless, when played in a club with loud bass and alcohol free-flowing, you can’t help but scream, “Versace, Versace, Versace!”

14. DJ Khaled ft Nicki Minaj, Future & Rick Ross – “I Wanna Be With You”

God I hate Nicki Minaj…Well…hate is too strong of a word…I just think the gimmick is annoying. HOWEVER, when a song like this with one of her verses comes on in the club, it always livens up a party. Sexy women and Sexy bottoms all race to the dance floor, mouthing every single word. Future’s simple hook along with Rick Ross’ masculine braggadocio help complete this hard hitting semi-romantic song.

13. Young Dro – “Fuck Dat Bitch”

Anytime you have a song where the rapper says, “Bitch I’m a float like Root Beer” you know you’re in Trap Music territory. When you just want ignorance and a hot beat to bob your head to while sipping on your Vodka and Cranberry at [insert Atlanta gay club here], then Young Dro gives you just what you need. Also, who knew this would become the ultimate breakup song of 2013.

12.  Rich Homie Quan – “Type of Way”

Dark skinned, shirtless, gold chain wearing  rapper with a body full of tattoos that are barely possible to see? Yessss, we’re in the Turn Up Zone! Music like this makes me feel some type of way. Atlanta born 24-year-old rapper Rich Homie Quan, who toured with Trinidad James this year, will luckily be providing us with Trap Music for many years to come.

11. Sage The Gemini ft. IamSu- “Gas Pedal”

While 21-year-old Sage’s banger “Gas Pedal” might not get the Masculine fellas too hyped, the song ALWAYS gets the Fems and women loose on the dance floor. A party with no one dancing is a party that ends pretty early, so we need songs like this to keep asses twerking until the house lights come on.

10. August Alsina ft Trinida James – “I Luv This Shit”

Sexy 21-year-old August Alsina’s smooth vocals on “I Luv This Shit” will make even the hardest masculine dude do a little tipsy two-step in the club as he mouths the words while holding his drink over his head. You gotta suffer through Trinidad James’ mediocre verse, but when August jumps back on the track you’ll be screaming, ” I Luv This Shit!!”

9. Travi$ Scott ft. T.I., 2 Chainz – “Upper Echelon

Travi$ Scott, yet another 21-year-old rapper (rap is a young man’s sport), has been on everyone’s radar ever since he made a guest appearance on Kanye West’s Cruel Summer last year. His 2013 EP “Owl Pharoah” quickly made it to every critics Best Rap Album of the Year list and with Turn Up tracks like this featuring heavyweights like T.I. and 2 Chainz, I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more from him in the future.

8. Drake – “Worst Behavior”

God I hate Drake…Well…hate is too strong of a word…I just don’t believe his Emo Sensitive Thug Nerd routine. HOWEVER, I can’t deny that he knows how to pick sick beats and make catchy hooks.

7. Drake ft Big Sean & 2 Chainz – “All Me”

Ugh, Drake again. Yeah, its his season right now so Drake was bound to be on this list quite a few times. This laid back song doesn’t seem like a Turn Up song when it starts with Drake’s broody crooning…But by the time 2 Chainz enters the scene and the beat drops….its two-step time…Then the music shuts off and Big Sean comes up saying, ” HOE SHUT THE FUCK UP! I GOT WAY TOO MUCH ON MY MENTAL!” its a wrap. TURN UP!

6. Young Jeezy ft 2 Chainz – “R.I.P.”

Hahahaha! Remember Young Jeezy? Yeah, he’s been quiet lately but this joint definitely was a banger earlier this year. How about 2 Chainz though. Whenever I hear him on the hook of a Hip Hop song I know its gonna be satisfactory Turnt Up Trap Music.

5.  Jay Z ft. Rick Ross – “Fuck With Me You Know I Got It”

With so many young bucks in the game, Jay-Z (44) and Rick Ross (37) make this collab look like the Hip Hop equivalent to The Golden Girls. Nonetheless, this joint bangs. Songs like this make me drink more liqour in the club so that I can pop pills later…and by pills I mean all of the Tylenol I have take to relieve the hangover I get the following morning.

4.  Lil Wayne ft. 2 Chainz – “Rich As Fuck”

2 Chhhaaaaiiiinnzzzzzz……This nicca is winning…He’s on damn near everyone’s track and on top of that, he released a Cookbook with his new album, B.O.A.T.S. II #Metime. Lil Wayne does his typical routine job on this track but its the hook that’s the star. “Look at you, now look at us…ALL MY NIGGAS LOOK RICH AS FUCK!” Tuuurrrnnnn Uppppppp!

3. Kanye West – “Black Skinhead”

Kanye is a genius. Fuck the naysayers. He’s the only rapper in the game saying and doing anything new or interesting. The polarizing album “Yeezus” proved that with DOOOPE tracks like “Black Skinhead”, “New Slaves”, “Blood on the Leaves” and “Bound 2.” Playing this hyped song while working out in gym easily pushes you to push past three more sets and 30  more minutes on the treadmill. LEHGO!

2. Kendrick Lamar – “M.A.A.D. City”

“If Pirus and Crips all got along/They’d probably gun me down by the end of this song/Seem like the whole city go against me…Every time I’m in the street I hear: YAWK! YAWK! YAWK! YAWK” That’s they ultimate chant moment of the year, hands down. Kendrick has had a GREAT two years. Its been well earned too. He snagged SEVEN Grammy nominations this year and I’d be VERY surprised if he didn’t win Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Album at the Awards Show next year.

1. Ace Hood ft Future & Rick Ross – “Bugatti”

Hands down, “Bugatti” is the most Turnt Up song of the year! Ace Hood goes hard on the track, screaming every verse as if his life depended on it. Then Future steps into the hook and blows us away with, “TURN UP! I WOKE UP IN A NEW BUGATTI!!!” That beat, though!!! Oh Gawd!! Let’s not forget that the video features the most expensive car in the world ($2.5 mil-$4 mil)…Get your weight up, son…TURN UP!!!
