Like many of you, I was completely unaware of the Baltimore, MD set soap opera web series Boi, Pull Your Pants Up, created by filmmaker William Caldwell. The series is under a year old and already has two seasons of episodes in the can and available on YouTube.
It’s standard soap opera material for the typical black female and black gay “Zane book loving” audience: Cheating lovers, relationship melodrama, Down Low gay men, HIV spreading, Strippers, Escorts, Lesbians, Fat asses, Six Packs, Thugs, Ratchet Women, Tattoos, Murder, Confusing Side Plots, etc.
Oh, and explicit sex scenes…Very explicit.
Don’t watch this series at your job unless you’re hoping to get fired.
The official synopsis sent to us states:
Boi, Pull Your Pants Up is loosely based off of the book and stage play of the same name. The series is based in Baltimore, Maryland and tackles the issues plaguing urban America regarding sexual identity, promiscuity, and sexual violence. Emotionally charged and captivating stories creatively thread together the notion that risky behaviors connect more than just the two persons in bed.
Maybe I’m not “urban” enough because I really have never experienced the drama depicted in this series. That’s not to say that the reality of black gay men being homeless and resorting to drugs and escorting doesn’t exist. I just can’t relate to it.
I’ve never cheated on a lover. I’ve never accidentally pushed my pregnant girlfriend down a flight of stairs. I’ve never had long, sweaty, completely nude sex in a public restroom at a packed hotel party. I’ve never seen a fight where a black woman snatches someone’s weave out.
Well…that last one I actually did see one time. A titty even popped out.
I say all that to say, while the gay & straight sex scenes were kinda hot, I still felt disconnected while watching this series.
I actually like Freefall better than this. Many of you will know the magnitude of that statement.
I do, however, admire the fact that Will Caldwell created so much content, likely on a slim budget and with very little help. The production is adequate but not great, the quality of the acting, audio and visuals fluctuate wildly during each episode.
For most, that won’t matter to general fans of web series. But I feel that we need more high quality gay-themed film productions to show that gay content can compete with the heterosexual filmmakers who do amazing work with equal or fewer resources.
And there’s a lot of extremely gay content here. He pulled off two seasons of straight and gay content. I know how hard it is for filmmakers to get black men to act in gay content here in Atlanta, I can only imagine how hard it may be to find willing participants in Baltimore. I even noticed that one of the actors in the series agreed to do explicit gay sex scenes but refused to show his face, which became annoying after awhile.
Overall, this series is on par with Steel River, Anacostia and T.R.A.D.E. It All…If you like those gay shows and Zane’s Sex Chronicles (and can look past the limitations with the acting and production quality), you’ll no doubt enjoy this series as well.

Can you tell us where these sex scenes occur so we dont have to look for them? Thanks.
LMAO. I was watching a few episodes and that’s what I need to know because the sex scenes were right! There are some web series I can watch based on the quality. This was purely for carnal reasons.
This looks like a struggle from episode 1… I am going to try to give it one more episode before calling it quits
I watched this while I was bored at work… It’s real hood and has no storyline at all. You don’t really need to watch one episode in order to understand the next. It had some decent scenes but overall I wasn’t interested in watching season 2… L
Has anyone watched the show “Looking” on HBO? I only mention it because its one of the better produced, some what mainstream storyline of gay men and incorporating more of the modern aspects of dating for gay men. While also still kind of talking about hook-up culture even if some of the methods are things seen in previous shows such as “Queer as Folk.” Also it features ambiguous people of color. I’d be curious to know thoughts/critiques of that show?
I was going to watch it but I heard it was really really boring and that some dude was in his 30’s and had never seen an uncircumsized penis before.
The best thing about this was the brother in the White Sox cap, the worst, everything else…….
what? where-are-you?they may get there…before me…because im on the other side of town.

Well…respect to the creator of this thing, but…it’s REALLY dramatic, my dude. The “home invasion” scene was just awkward LOL But whatever, I dont have a webseries so who am I to critique. I can only imagin how hard it is to find someone that can really act, let alone find someone who can really act and be willing to work on a very low budget.
Freefall was good in the beginning, but I’m pretty much done with it. Freefall is starting to feel like My Brother’s Keeper – Dark and glooming and very over dramatic with a lot of run off. I like Steel River, but it needs to develop into something. The camera work is better too. I like Boi, Pull Your Pants up. Triangle is very good too! I like trade it all – same as Steel River. I like the door and actor Cory.
WHERE IS THIS SERIES , I HAVEN’T FIND IT YET ? IS IT ON DVD OR WHAT ? ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO GET TO SEE IT IN FULL ?
