While accepting the award for Best Esports Player at the 2018 Game Awards in Los Angeles last night, a 20-year-old video gamer named Dominique McLean (aka. “SonicFox”) declared, “I’m gay, black, a furry — pretty much everything a Republican hates.”
This made us instantly fall in love with him.
While accepting the award, MetroWeekly.com reports that McLean said, “As you guys also may know — or may not know — I’m also super gay.”
He continued, “I wanna give a super shoutout to all my LGBTQ+ friends that have always helped me through life. Obviously I’m a furry, so shout out to the furries…. Guess all I gotta really say is I’m gay, black, a furry — pretty much everything a Republican hates — and the best esports player of the whole year I guess. Thank you so much!”
McLean is a three time winner at the Evolution Championship Series, an annual esports event that focuses on fighting games. He won honors for being the best fighter in the games Injustice: Gods Among Us in 2014, Mortal Kombat X in 2015 and 2016 and Dragon Ball FighterZ in 2018.
His being proudly gay, black and a furry all matter in the often toxic atmosphere of gaming. Just recently, the creators of the first person team shooter Fallout 76 had to ban players for homophobic assaults. Players in the game Red Dead Redemption 2 have made a game of assaulting and murdering feminist and black characters.
In fact, one need only look at the YouTube comments on McLean’s acceptance video to find numerous people criticizing him for “going political.”
But whether these critics realize it or not, gaming has always been political: from its exclusion of female, dark-skinned and LGBTQ characters to the fact that most games literally involve overthrowing violent regimes. (Super Mario Brothers, anybody?)
McLean actually came out via Twitter in August, but his awards speech has helped make even more people aware of his unique and intersectional identity — score!

As someone who uses Tumblr to curate my particular porn taste in a single feed that is not connected to browser history, I am upset. I have never posted a single thing to Tumblr nor do I "like" anything or reblog. I used Tumblr for its adult content. With that being said, I know plenty of people gay, straight, whatever, who use Tumblr in the same way. My thing is why can these geniuses take down the porn, but that can't seem to figure out hate speech and Nazi organizing? After December 17th, I will have no use for Tumblr and will likely delete it and move on.
As others have stated, Tumblr has been a great source for porn without having to dodge click-bait or sites with malicious code. I've heard some noise about moving to twitter, but its format just isn't as good as what Tumblr has/had.
Personally, I think it's only going to get worse with folks seeking attention on social media. I will say with non-hetero men its going to or has even become a survival technique. 'Oh you are not on Snap chat, Facebook, Kik, Instagram, G chat, OnlyFans, Connect Pal? Next!' Follower count is a social currency now.
- Thread: Do You Snapchat?
I just recently started to use Tumblr for porn and it's been great - eliminated the chance of accidentally hitting a click-bait link trying to start a vid, had no pop-ups, and it had more amateur stuff which I prefer.
But there was some weird shit on there though...
But hey one monkey don't stop no show, right?
Everyone gay, straight, bi, polyambidextrous is going crazy. But I can't blame them. Tumblr has long been a great place to get pix and adult content. Tumblr is now flagging R-rated and even PG-rated content as "explicit." Many are noting that neo-Nazi, white nationalist, and white supremacist propaganda goes untouched by the staff. Also child porn and spam bots of all kinds are also go unscathed on the platform. Instead of actually doing the hard work of removing content that is actually offensive the management at Tumblr are simply going arbitrarily take down anything they deem to be "adult content." It's like setting fire to a building to resolve a hostage situation. I'm not convinced that Tumblr will get rid of porn. They've tried this before. This time it looks like the management is going for scorched earth policy. They may end up alienating the bulk of their users and by driving them off the platform. My suspicion is Apple is behind this. Apple deleted Tumblr app from their App store. Once that happened they started making this push to remove adult content.
I'm glad for this and happy for dude.
It was fun going to the arcade and people groaning at your presence and people picking up their quarters and leaving the queue at your sight.
I still say my SF2:CE and SSF2:T Chun Li ain't to be fucked wit.
It's cool that people are in spaces where they can be all of these things and live their lives and be successful. Gone head furry gaymer black dude.
Lol, Led Zeppelin predicted Amazon and the future with their 1977 album cover, appropriately titled “Presence”
I’ll never understand the degree of privacy and control that people willingly cede to Bezos and Amazon in the name of conveneience, although I concede that just having a smartphone in this day and age is no better (looking at you hypocrites, Tim Cook and Apple)....

First as an educator, I am not accepting, overlooking or condoning white folks use of the n word at any age level online.. especially when they know you are black/African American. Its either their ignorance or their parents ignorance and obviously the non-racist white privilege gift bag in this country comes with not having to consciously teach your melanin deprived babies about race. Also @Ockydub, the "you nigger" thing has happened to me a few times online playing the multi-person features of the Uno and Spades app. I clap-back to applause from other players and report it every single time. Its a sad, sad universe we live in sometimes and surfing it as a black msm makes it equally depressing...
- Thread: Netflix's Baki the Grappler
In preparation for Baki the Glappler coming to Netflix this fall. I saw a youtube video of a dude giving a review of the new show...its already been released on Netflix Japan. He said that this new show is a third season (canon) and that he recommends to look at the previous two seasons first that came out in 2001. Below is a clip from the new season.
But why though at :46 when he pops him in the face with the heel of his shoe.
Needless to say, after looking at the first 5 episodes of the first season the animation holds up but its not as vivid as the new season. I find it funny my ass was in the gym working out hard as fuck after watching them. LOL

My online multiplayer experience may span over 10 years but the games I play are limited in scope; consisting of Halo, Mortal Kombat, Gears of War, Forza, Titan Fall and Injustice. Halo easily being the franchise that has the most hours spent playing under my belt. In fact, Halo 2 is the very first game I played online with others.
With online multiplayer gaming, I got to interact with other players ‘in game’ and chat with them via a headset. This was newer technology at that time and before the social media explosion.
Just like within face-to-face competitions, online matches have a lot of trash talk, which is to be expected when interacting with other males. One thing that was instantaneously noticeable was that many times the trash talk from White males was overtly racist. It didn’t matter their age…from kids to adults.
I do give the kids a pass though. When I was a kid cursing or “using bad words”, was taboo and a no-no. So when I was at home by myself, I would say curse words out loud just because I could. Once I realized my mother wasn’t going to magically materialize and smack me across my mouth, I continued to cuss whenever I wanted, outside of the ear shot of adults. For me the n-word is a curse word, so I give White kids a pass for irritatingly saying the n-word over and over and over again through anonymity of their headsets. Kids acquire questionable habits inside and outside of the home and using the n-word is no exception.
Regardless of their age however, once I grew tired of hearing it, I would just as much mute them or just take my headset off. I quickly grew content with playing without the headset and still happily engage in trash talk through instant messenger. Needless to say, I’ll occasionally get a racist message or two.
Recently I had a strange thought or one could even say, ‘feeling’ once I read my opponent's comment where he unleashed his level one racist weaponry after losing consecutive matches in Injustice 2. Here is the pic I took with my phone of my television screen.
“Pussy” or “Spammer pussy” is casual banter within online gaming. I even would’ve been cool if he said, “bitch ass nigga”, which is just as common a saying now in America as is eating sushi for lunch or dinner. Oh no…ole’boy gotta go and call me a nigger coon as a double combo move. I’m not just a nigger but also a shuck’n n’jivin coon…
I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF!
First, everyone spams and has a character they spam with. Second, why does it seem like the n-word is the instinctual go to insult for many White people? Third, (this is where my strange thought comes in) is it me or that due to their recent over usage and saturation of the word as their go to insult, that not only is it losing the sting they think it still inflicts but it has now become lame like the ‘running man’ dance?
Its Stephanie Tanner on Full House saying “don’t go there”, or “talk to the hand”, level 23 lame.
That’s why when I saw that dude took the time out to put the periods between the letters to an already lame insult; I had no choice but to laugh. Maybe it was because I was imagining the ‘claps hands together’ emoji between the letters and thinking, “oh he meant that”.
While acknowledging the insult, I was not to be distracted from the facts that lead to this back & forth and highlighted it in my reply…I’m a WINNING nigger coon! I beat his ass with Aquaman. Admittedly my retort was just as lame with the ‘devil’ on the end. I mean was I channeling Farrakan or some shit? I also want to add that the voice actor for Aquaman in the game is voiced in by the super talented Phil LaMarr…a Black man. So yeah I may be using a white character but when I use Aquaman, I’m playing like I’m fighting for my ancestors and I’m gonna try to win at all costs.
Closing, I want to provide some advice to the racist White male gamer; please get creative with your racial slurs. Below are a few real racial slurs that you should add to your lexicon of online multiplayer insults. This way you can feel superior when you confuse the hell outta your negroid recipients.
And the daily double…
Smoked Irish / Smoked Irishman (intended to insult both Blacks and Irish)

- Thread: Nintendo Switch Gaming Console
After years of rumors and speculation, Nintendo has finally revealed its latest console — the Nintendo Switch — and if early first impressions are anything to go by, it looks like it was worth the wait.
In typical Nintendo style, the Japanese company decided not to hold a big unveiling event, and instead post a simple three-minute trailer to its website and YouTube account showcasing exactly what the new console will be able to do.
From the trailer we can gather that the Switch is a portable console hybrid, designed to be taken on the road or hooked up to a TV at home. The reveal video didn’t gift us much in terms of actual specs and information, but it did show a lot of different shots of the system. We’ve broken them all down here below.
You can play the Switch on your TV, thanks to the Nintendo Switch Dock
This is what it looks like…
It uses cartridges, not discs
When you leave the house, the Switch can be pulled up out of its dock
You can then use the console on-the-move using two Joy-Con controllers, which look like this…
They can be attached to either side of the Switch…
Or you can combine them using the Joy-Con Grip…
To create a portable controller
The switch then acts as a screen, using handy fold-out stands at the back of the console
Which means you can use it to play split-screen two player
Pretty exciting, huh? The Nintendo Switch is coming out in March 2017, stay tuned for more information.
