Well I used to be left home a lone all night when my mom worked nights every 3 months for a little while when I was 11. But my mom was a LEO soooooooo there's that.

The thing is that teens can find a way to get into trouble intentionally or not.

Not every teen is an inn lil lamb. Especially if they were acting on their own to find these older men that could have been his great grandad. However they should have known better. Even these swole up teens still don't quite look 18 or even if they do, it's on the older person to verify and ask.

I think more African countries need to start doing more of this. A lot of this anti-gay ideology actually comes from the west with fundamental christian minsters coming to Africa to evangelize. They send money and support to the poor and pay elected officials and local leaders off. Since the west is becoming more liberal they look to many other countries to "win souls" with their fundamental beliefs. Particularly those with high poverty rates. Karl Marx said it best "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."

 

I will say this. I know plenty of people on prep and they suddenly just tossed out condoms altogether. This is problematic because there's more than just HIV out there. There's some shit that will put a rash on your hands and feet and make your junk fall off. PREP doesn't prevent none of those.

I'm sure male to female transition would've also been met with more push back as it is perceived as more threatening to the social order. Just like homosexual and bisexual men get more negative feedback than homosexual and bisexual women because male homosexuality is perceived as more threatening to the established order.

Also in this particular case these guys don't have to live in Jamaica. They can go back to Britain when this is all said and done and live relatively safe and secure lives. I'm sure transgender people who have to live in Jamaica have it much worse.

I don't really blend in. I'm a soft male. I'm not hardcore masculine and I'm not fem. I still dress like a man, no high pitch voice or anything but I do enjoy wearing fitted clothes, showing off my shape but I'm confident. I get judged instantly. I've had folks tell me I need to try and bull up more to be a bigger man and I just give them the stank face.

Folks automatically assume I like dick and I don't care to be honest. If they ask me I just ask them why do they wanna know? I tend to get highly offended when someone asks my sexuality. Not because I'm ashamed but because it's none of their business and I'm not interested in them so they shouldn't worry about it. Whatever they decide then is on them.

I remember some old college colleagues had wanted to go out to dinner to talk. We weren't close but it was me, another guy, and two girls and their comments hinted at them trying to decide if I was gay or not.

It was really pissing me off. They'd mention things about stuff to see my response. I've legit like hated them ever since. Lol

I've had coworkers at my old job make a comment about it. I was mentioning to one of them that my cousin hates fem gays and another guy was like..does your cousin know you're gay too?
Who said I was gay? You looking at me and judging me based on stereotypical presentation but when someone does it to you...ya looking lost and crying discrimination.

I'd say I'm metro at best..but my masculinity overshadows anything fem about me. I don't like make-up, Beyonce or other popular Divas (I do like Janet Jackson to be fair.) to the point where I see them as idols, I don't watch or participate in any drama, Only time I wanna be a bitch is in the bed room....by bitch I mean submissive...though I could probably be a switch if I wanted to.

 

I don't think he did. This guy is of a completely different generational mindset. I think this is only going to help his career not that the White Elite Gatekeepers will boost him. He represents the generation that comes out in nonchalant ways, almost the afterthought. Kids today are wise and really know who they are in ways us in the Millennial and GenX generation find a bit confusing and perplexing. Some of the kids I mentor in Middle School tell me they are cool with their pansexual classmates. Things are different times are different.

Yes the adults are extremely wrong for this once they realize he was much younger but I have so many questions. Does those apps not have a 18+ age restriction? I can relate because this was my struggle with being gay. I was raised in the church, mom and grandma are pastors and my dad is a deacon. My whole reason for being DL was not because I was afraid of what others thought or being accepted but it was my religion. If you ever witness those left behind movies as a child that scared the shit out of me for real. As I got older and went off to college I reached a point where I couldn't take it no more so I decided to do my own research. I don't like to talk about religion anymore because I found so many flaws and inconsistencies that no one can really validate the truth. My result of the research is that it really just comes down what you choose to believe and have faith in. I believe some people really do need a religion to help them live "right", I don't. Its funny to me when I hear these ex-gay Christians talk about deliverance but in the same breathe they say there are still urges. The new Christian ex-gay theory is its ok to have gay feelings (that's the devil) but the trick is not to act on it or fake a attraction to the opposite sex. I was taught God knows our heart desires, so who are we really trying to fool?

I'd like to know if anyone has actually ever met someone they're still happily together long term with from an event like this and both come up infection free.

I get what this movement is trying to do but I think some of the energy is wasted. Instead of trying to change traditional black churches/denominations there are already black lgbt churches and denominations being and have already been formed and created; just go to them instead. As the old folk use to say "why sat undah that type of teachin" if you dont agree with it? In fact, many black denominations and churches were formed because black folk got tired of the discrimination of their white "christian" counterparts and formed their own institutions.Hell have you seen the 50 to 11 churches on one block in the hood lol. I understand for some of us many of our family members worked sacrificed to found many institutions but if they are not serving your spiritual needs you need to leave and find one that does our create our own. You can still come back to visit on time to time though lol.

 

Yea watching this video is a stark reminder of the stereotypes that prevail regarding gay men. Watching this video makes me sort of frustrated, I can't deal lol.

 

This was really good. I liked how it didn't give the same stereotypical image of homophobia and transphobia on the island. It was more multidimensional. The family members definitely weren't celebrating the transitions of the two transmen, but at least they remained semi-open minded. News reports on Jamaica would have you believing that they would be shot on the spot. Then again, I'm sure having cameras in your face definitely reduces the likelihood of conflict. I'm also curious to see how things would be different if they had a transwoman return to the island or a gay men with his male partner. I'm sure the response would be a lot worse.

 

Just want to say that people have too much time on their hands worry about "this gay shit" and who's gay, DL and whatnot... like these past two weeks have been ridiculous on the blogs. We have Mack Yusaf, August Alsina was exposed as allegedly gay by his messy gay cousin and Tahj Mowry was exposed for liking male models ass pictures. Now this?

 

1st. I think its a great idea to met up at a Walmart (or any other store) for a first date.

I enjoy videos like these on YouTube of same sex POC. Some might have their reservations on videos they upload, but personally I love that a young Gay Black dude, who feels alone growing up in a homophobic home, living in fear and feeling alone, made to go to cancerous center of the black community called the Black church, can go on Youtube and find folks like him on various degrees of Masculinity and femininity and get comfort that they are not alone. I want young black gay men to feel free about their sexuality and be comfortable in it, and I think we are experiencing a lot of that in this generation than previous. More power to them!
