Sigh...I've been there OMG. Man. When ever a job leaves the US its because the foreign labor is cheaper and the executives and owners of the company will make more money.
    *************

In a video uploaded to YouTube, a gathering of workers at an Indianapolis air conditioning manufacturing plant are stunned and enraged when told they’ll soon be out of work because the company is moving their jobs to Mexico.

The large crowd of employees of a Carrier Air Conditioner manufacturing plant in Indianapolis can be seen milling around as a speaker — dressed in a suit and standing on a stage — addresses them and gives them the bad news.

“The best way to stay competitive and protect the business for long-term is to move production from our facility in Indianapolis to Monterrey, Mexico,” the man can be heard explaining.

The crowd reacts with shouts of outrage, including one man who can be heard yelling, “F*ck you.”

Following that bombshell, he adds that the local distribution center will also be closed, putting more people out of work.

After attempting to calm the crowd down saying he had important information that employees will want to know for the future he explains that the move is being made to “ensure high levels of [manufacturing] quality.”

He goes on to provide them with the cold comfort that “It is important that you understand that there will be no impact on jobs today.”

According to Fox News, the closures will put over 1,400 people out of work.

Thanks NAFTA and TPP by the way Bernie was against both.

Having worked at a distribution center, which the company also has a Monterey distribution center as well, I fully understand.

I wonder how many people would actually buy American made iPhones, Galaxy Notes, laptops, x boxes, and Playstations at the price it would cost to make them here?

I have a few America made things. I love my Kitchen Aid mixer. I have bought New Balance shoes for my mom that were made in the USA. But so many things people are used to paying little for would be in for a big shock if that 12.00 Superman t-shirt costs $25.00 after being made in America versus China?

Those balance board things probably would be at least $800 a pop but would have lasted longer and been safer I'm sure. People don't think about things like that.

It's so easy for management executives to opt cutting jobs, not just because it's the "If all else fails..." decision, but because of the company's image or to save their jobs. SADD!!!!!!!

I have relatives that work at IBM. They were told there jobs are moving to Canada. One of reasons given was that costs would be cheaper since Canada has socialized healthcare. They still want to keep them under contract to train the new guys though. SMH

I understand the workers reaction. This globalization, post industrial, neo-liberal, economy is designed to make the average man and woman in the "first world" into 3rd world peasants. Political and social elites have been selling us on this "free trade" bullshit since the 1970s the results have been disastrous for most of us. But there is a reason this is happening. It's designed to give the ultra wealthy complete and total control over the population. Call it plutocracy or neo-feudalism. But whatever you call it the results are the same. Bernie Sanders is one of the few people in politics fighting against this or even talking about it.

This is not good news for Indiana. Their economy has a surprisingly high amount of manufacturing jobs just like these.

Completely agree with the above poster. He (Sanders) is the only one really talking about what is really happening.
