At times I think about where I should end up living to increase my prospects for dating as well as my career. I am thinking of the following places:
    1. Atlanta, GA
    2. Miami, FL
    3. Fort Lauderdale, FL
    4. Houston, TX
    5. Washington, D.C.
    6. Chicago, IL (anywhere BUT SOUTHSIDE LOL)
    7. Baltimore, MD
    8. St.Louis, MI
    9. Oakland, CA
    10. Los Angeles, CA
What would be your top 5 from this list?

Are there any other cities that you would add to your top five that are not present on this list?

I really love Texas since I grew up there but I need to spread my wings from my parents. Miami would be my #1, Fort Lauderdale would be my #2, Atlanta would be my #3, D.C. would be my #4 then I think that Houston, TX would be my #5.

    What are your thoughts?

The Caribbean islands are pretty homophobic for the most part so which ones would you want to reside at?

Its totally weird to me that you state to "increase my prospects for dating as well as my career", and New York City is nowhere on the list.

From my experience (and I have a bunch), New York, although CRAZY expensive has basically every industry here and tons of gay men. So I believe that fact alone should make it a consideration. But I can respect your criteria for choosing the areas based upon how you feel for whatever reason.

My list of 5 would be -

    1) New York City
    2) London
    3) Los Angeles
    4) Atlanta
    5) Washington D.C.

BTW, Im from Ft. Lauderdale and most of my family still live in South Florida. Is the gay scene or men popping like that down there to have a great dating life? I remember when i lived there, it didnt seem that way and when I go back, well, yeah.

I'm not hurting for money or anything but NYC is way too expensive for me to ever consider permanently moving there. It's definitely a great place to visit 2-3 times a year and If I got a job offer in NY it would definitely be a great experience for a few years. But as a quiet GA boy born and raised I'll stay on my current track of building a nice big house outside of Atlanta in 10-15 years. The weather is also better in Atlanta than any potential place besides Cali not to mention the fine brothers here. Atlanta is the only place for me for sure.

Well, i cant front. I agree with you on that Brent. The ATL is indeed amazing for weather vs NYC. I still cant get use to winter here. I lived in ATL for almost 10 years and I love it. In fact its still more home to me than anywhere else. However, I'm a fashion dude and thats my business. The ATL is not the place for that. So I moved to NYC for the professional side. I feel ATL still have someways to go with professions there unless you are in some key industries.

I working on building a house in ATL and living between the two. The price I pay for rent here is what you guys pay for mortgage. Maybe even more (ouy vey). But both places for me right now have there charms.

Oh yeah, and about the fine brothers. DAMN, you are so right. (looking on delta right now for flight to ATL). I miss that part.

Yea I agree with you. You are definitely in an industry where NY is the place to be. If I was in fashion or film I would want to be there as well.

I know about NYC but I don't like the cold. Even though I mentioned Chi-Town, I really want to remain down South. I don't care about getting all four seasons. The snow... you can keep that S H I T! LOL. I am in FL for school so as a graduate student, I haven't made time to go out to gay clubs too much. Just the Pride Center Florida and a few places to eat. I really wish I could go out more but school is #1. I do hope to meet more guys in the future though.

I've always wanted to go to London for real!

NYC is too damn expensive I agree. I think if you're up there, you gotta have at least 2 roommates to live well. Up there they live in shoeboxes but I love how being down south (w/ the exception of South Florida) that paying less than $1000 a month can get you a 2 or even a 3 bedroom in a very nice neighboorhood for a house or townhome or apartment. Love love love the south. I will visit NY one day though hopefully.

    My Top 5 City's
    Washington DC (DC Metro Area)
    Atlanta, GA
    Tampa Bay, FL
    New York City, NY
    Austin, Texas

    Top 5 International City's

    Barcelona, Spain
    Geneva, Switzerland

I lived in Switzerland for 6 months on an internship and I have to say, I had a GREAT time with the Euro-mens. I was young, black, and American which made me rare and the men really liked me (probably a little fetishistic but I didn't care)

    I like your list @BlackguyExecutive!

Have you ever experienced gay life in Fort Lauderdale or Miami? How would you compare them to Tampa?

You like Austin? Not enough black people there for me and the city is too weird hahaha.

I've always wanted to go to London, UK. The graduate program I am enrolled in now provides us with the chance of going to London to do clinical rotations. If I get nominated and considered for it, that would be a dream come true.

    I liked Austin,

I liked Austin, yes it was weird but I like weird.

With respect to the gay scenes in Fort Laudy and Miami vs Tampa, I think they are night and day. I view Miami and Fort Laudy as the places gay men go to be seen, the polished posh gays if you will. I think Tampa is definitely more laid back. Tampa is a mix of everything without the pomp and circumstance.

London is SO MUCH FUN. If you get a chance to go, do it. I don't know why but I find it funny and sexy to hear a black men with British accents talk. London also has a pretty big gay scene.

Seattle is great for me, just no black men anywhere(or it feels like it). I feel completely disconnected from the black community sometimes, but I think it'll take a few more years. If in 3 years I still feel like my feet are tingling. I would say, based on where I have connections, my research, where I see tons of upstanding young black millennials, and a relatively reasonable cost of living, this would be my top 5.

    1. Atlanta, GA
    2. Charlotte, NC
    3. Dallas-Fort Worth, TX( heard great things)
    4. Houston, TX
    5. Washington,D.C

So I have definitely thought about where I would see myself moving to to advance my life. I think my top five are (in no particular order):
1- Atlanta, GA (for public health and HIV prevention its a good spot)
2- Washington DC (friends love the city...so maybe I will as well)
3- Charlotte, NC (big city w/ southern charm)
4- Philadelphia, PA (always loved visiting this city...)
    5- Dallas/Houston, TX

Wildcard: somewhere in California (this is my wildcard, preferably near Oakland, but I would also consider LAX).

I lived in Chicago and that did more for my "gay life experiences" and career than any other city. I currently live in Miami / Ft. Lauderdale and it is okay, but if you are looking for experiences and enrichment of career, i would say this is not the place.
