    Rapper Wale was asked by Angela Yee, a radio personality from The Breakfast Club Radio Show, about whether or not he feels that an openly gay rapper can make it in the music industry. Wale expressed that he would sign a gay rapper if he was dope and he believes that being openly gay in the USA provides you with opportunities like Grammy Awards and the like. He believes it is an advantage to be gay in this country!

    With all the hype from Miles and Milan Christopher from Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood inspiring conversation about openly gay hip-hop artists in the music industry...

    That is an absolute...and I do not believe in absolutes. I do, however believe that it can be an advantage depending on how you position yourself.
    It just depends on career/industry, stage in your career, environment and opportunities. Just like I have found it advantageous to occasionally be the "wel-spoken", educated black man... In that cheap brand of chocollate chip cookies that have 2 or 3 chips each.

    Really, it's an advantage to be gay? Well shit that's news to me. However I'm not surprised I expect BS statements like that from a hetero who never had to worry about was your family and friends going to disown you, or be concerned whether you was gonna have to fight to keep from being a target for abuse. I'm sure the vast bulk of black gay people in this country don't feel being gay is an advantage. I sure as hell don't feel like it's advantage. I'm sure the black gay people in the entertainment and sports industries don't feel like it's an advantage either which is why so many of them are in the closet.

    It was a joking politically correct statement to make within this comfortability and stance to say so. Even with the Out in Hip Hop segment with Love and Hip Hop, as soon as the cameras are off and everybody leaves the studio, being politically correct goes in the trash and the cutthroat honesty light comes on.
