Oscars: Who Liked What Where

Moonlight is not surprising at all: when it came out in Seattle, it was pretty much sold out within a few hours at most theaters and when i went to see it, there was a long line. However, when I talk to friends in mid-sized or smaller cities and towns, they had to drive long distances (to nearby bigger cities) to see it on top of it being shown just once or twice a week.

I would imagine it was intentional as the small budget and independent release prevented Moonlight's distribution to go beyond major metropolitan areas.
