Political Correctness Aside, Could You Date A Guy Who Had A Major Disability?

    000021489638.jpg

Obviously this question is not meant to offend, just to ask if given the complications of gay dating in general, could you date a guy with the added sexual, physical and mobility difficulties that come with having a disability?

    9c630bedd97dfc03e0718cce905e345a.jpeg

If you have already done so in the past (or are currently dating someone like this, what was your experience like?

    Photo Aug 30, 8 41 59 AM.jpg

If you are disabled yourself, do you find dating more difficult? Or is the experience no different than non-disabled men face with many of these "ain't shit" dudes out here? :tears:

I mean I suppose it depends. Where does the mental disability fit into this because I guess some of those might be a bit more hidden and I've definitely... met some.... interesting people.

Wow this thread revealed how embarrassingly shallow I am. I don't know that I could and I know that's not right.

I have and it didn’t make a major difference, just adjusted for accommodations.

Mental disability would be problematic mainly for legal reasons (is he deemed capable of giving consent for physical contact etc.)

I'm pretty sure he meant physical disabilities. Hell, half of yall gays deserve to still qualify for a SSI check based on yalls mental/emo stability.

If we weren’t getting SSI, who’d be putting those dollars in the g-strings of needy strippers and escorts?

:umad:Smh and u call ur self a "medical professional" haah lol:D

No but I think I wouldn't either. I mean dating would be new and complicated for me already. I just have never thought about dating anyone with a major disability. Like how would partaking in the "deeds" workout.

Like u said @takeyourmeds91 dont want to sound shallow but.....I guess it would depend on what issues they dealing with.

This really has got me thinking:thinkemoji:

I wouldn't be interested in the wheel chair thing.

If my dude got in accident after we have been together for a while than of course I would be down for him and would definitely adjust to his disability (or try to).

But if I just meet a dude in a wheel chair, nicca I aint got time to be picking you up to get on the bed or making sure I take your wheel chair into account of everything we do. Making sure ramps everywhere and having to lessen some of the physical activity that could be fun on dates. Nah, I dont know you like that to take on that responsibility off the jump. Im good on that.

However, I think I would date a FINE ass dude with a missing limb or something of the sort. And he had a nice prosthetic in place. That shit might actually be cool as fuck. He pretty much fully functional with a way more dope limb than mine.
I might even fetishize fucking the bionic man.....:steviej:

(Side note - Yeah I know I aint shit for that. I know.) :yeshrug:

He might be attached to an infinity gauntlet. You never know. Or maybe his rims are made from custom one of a kind special material from a galaxy far far away.

    Well at least Y'all honest.

I would imagine that someone Wheel chair bound is trying to be as independent as they can and they won't need me to wipe their ass or put their drawz on. While I would be a little concerned about not being able to buy certain cars because it's not big enough for a wheelchair that's small in the big scheme.

However can you imagine the butthurt over the jack... Well Grindr profile like this :

Masc 4 masc only! No fats or Fems! Discreet guys I can bring around and no body knows nothing! Fit bodies, able, gym guys only! You need to be intact. No missing limbs. All your appendages need to be fully functional.

Look.... A man missing all of or the majority of one thigh should be able to easily manage certain positions.

IJS. You were all thinking it too.

This post just came IMMEDIATELY after I saw this video(crazy)

Personally, I can not date someone with a major physical disability. I know that after a while it will become a burden for me and I will end up resenting them for something that they had no control over. However, if its like a lost limb which has been replaced with prosthetic then I am open to considering it.

This is why I am all for prostitution being legal. Disabled people get a good percent of the dating pop cut off from them and in turn, fewer sexual opportunities.

Good points raised. That said, I just feel like the whole, 'who knows wtf this man's capabilities and physical limits are, maybe I should ask questions and get answers before bailing/online 101-ing him' is being glossed over. Many dudes in chairs still live independently, get wood, and have come to terms w/ the fact that they can't do everything everyone else can do, and therefore, aren't depending on you to help them make fetch happen.

Also, and obvs, to each his own, and I don't think anyone needs to worry about appearing shallow just because they have a (maybe) shallow-ish outlook on this particular topic. Hell, some ppl won't date ppl w kids, or extra weight, or _____ that has the potential to affect their own lifestyles. Just remember that the next time any of yall wana play dumb abt why everyone doesn't have a chance w everyone (yall remember that thread) and start ringing the shallow alarms...

Also, I kinda liken this to ppl w certain STDs. While I've never had a major disability or an STD, I've always wondered why many ppl in those (permanent) boats have a hard time dealing w the fact that their dating pool is more limited. Im not trying to trivialize it, but I feel like many of the same ppl who'd be so matter of fact abt the fact that a disability is more than they're willing to take on in a potential partner, will look at someone w a side eye if they say they wouldn't date someone who's poz. Granted, that may lay in the fact that the latter experience is a lot 'closer to home' for many, but that goes to show that exposure and education influence what we're open to.

That said, those 'in the boats' have to come to terms w their new realities. Getting back to my initial point, I wonder how many of those ppl actively try and date within their 'communities'. I say that because if I were in either position, I personally think I'd automatically focus my energies there. Not that Id rule out other potentials, but there'd have to be a lot of comfort in not having to always be a teacher and ppl just fukn 'getting it'.

Sorry, that was a whole nother topic...kinda

I think that people really don't care if people are riding the SS Seroconversion as long as they got body , dick, face, and or ass.

I think in general people cut off potentials based on physical attributes more than anything. Even poz guys have body demands themselves, when on one hand,
I can't blame people for side eyeing them for that if they already are in a smaller dating and sex partner pool as it is that they should be more open to entertaining people who can look past their status.

You aint shit...but yes, that plays into my point. It's a lot easier to be less judgemental/more open when you yourself are far less than 6 degrees from what was once itself, very taboo.

I guess another factor to consider is whether the disability is potentially permanent or temporary and what kind of limitations you gotta deal with. Other than constant access to an electrical outlet, I wouldn't even mentally register the guy in the video as even having a disability.
