If you were to hypothetically have kids with your partner, what would you want your kids to call each of you? Parent A and Parent B?

I would let my partner chose his name - but I have always liked the names(s): Dad or Pops... I know. LOL

I more or less exclusivley call the man who raised me my father ,and my biological male parent my dad,so I guess my kids would follow a pattern like that.

My kids are going to speak my mother's tongue so they are going to call me dad in that.

As for my guy, I highly doubt that he'd be from my country so he can take dad or father or pops or dad in his native tongue if english isn't his first language.

....but just for fun, I'd rather be called dad than father....I don't know, I have always been the fun godfather and uncle so I don't see myself being the full authoritarian in my two-parent household.

Well it isn't going to happen but..

For a boy, it would be father-for either of us. For a girl, it would be daddy, for either of us. There could be some little name thrown in or something to distinguish between the two parents when needed.

*Having a son makes you a father, having a daughter makes you a daddy. JMO.

I admit I still and always have referred to my father when talking to him as 'dad' though.

I call my dad "dad" and my stepdad "pops" so some variation on those...

That's definitely something I heard from dudes who speak multiple languages. That's a good way to differentiate while exposing them to more culture.

My dad hates when I call him "father." He thinks it's too formal and for him "too white." lol. I call my dad "dad" and sometimes "daddy" no matter how old I get. I would want my kids to call me "daddy" regardless of their gender. They can switch to "dad" exclusively when they get older. That's their choice. But I still call mine "daddy" even in public and I don't give a fuck.

My dad hates 'father' too. But for some reason I would want me kid (a boy) to use 'father'. I would be a loving but much more strict parent-much more so than my own parents. Father just shows respect and maybe a little fear "just wait till your father gets home" and all.

I am not going to have to worry about this though so it is no big deal.

I'd let the child decide. Although I secretly hope it wouldn't be "daddy". Society has ruined that for me and I always think it inappropriate when I hear it. lol

I like Parent A and Parent B. Makes me think this hypothetical child is some kind of smartass, or is secretly a robot.

I guess dad and pops would work? I can't remember the last time I referred to my dad as anything, aside from referring to "my father" when speaking with outsiders. I usually just speak to him without any terms or say "he" or "him" when speaking to my mother. It's not a bad relationship but not very strong. Never felt like I really wanted to call him dad.

I actually already know what I will tell my kids to call me, it's a nickname my father gave to me and I gave him, "Bubba". Don't where it came from, he called me bubba so I started calling him bubba. "Dad" never seemed to suit him anyway...We both call each other that and there's been zero confusion so I figure I'd pass on the tradition. If we have a girl she can still call me bubba but ill think of a more suitable nickname. They can call my husband "Dad" or "Daddy" or whatever form of father they choose.

When they get older and are too embarrassed to call me that in public lol I'll accept "Dad"...I like the idea @Champagne_Papi had about names in different languages...maybe I'll have to bag me a multicultural man..lol

I agree, I would want my kids to call both of us dad. I'm guessing over time based on the tone we'd be able to differentiate whose who. However maybe to steer away confusion we can do "dad and daddy", although "daddy" sounds like the nicer father. lol But something tells me my husband is gonna be the parent that let's them get away with everything, while I'm the strict one. lol. It's adorable when I even think about it. However for some reason, I've always seen myself having a girl, I guess I felt she could better handle maybe having two dads. Plus I always wanted a girl so she could be a daddy's girl. lol.

Even then yeh, I hope and welcome my guy to participate in all aspects of our culture....he's going to be my kids dad after all innit.

I'd love if they called him baba....I'll take bab for short and let him have baba.

(p.s. The relationship between your father and you with calling each other "Bubba" is just too freaking cute man.)

They'll have two dads or daddies unless he wants to be called something else. When they are old enough to make their own distinctions, we'll let them.

Dad. Pa, or Sir. If they come up with a suitably cute nickname, I might accept it.
