Singer Danny Boy, who sung hooks on such famous songs as 2Pac’s “I Ain’t Mad at Cha” and “Picture Me Rollin,” spoke to VladTV about deciding to come out as a gay man at the beginning of 2016. The former Death Row singer told us that he made the decision after a man he was dating, who was the first man Danny Boy said he felt comfortable with, committed suicide because he was gay. He explained that initially he disguised his boyfriend, Anthony, as a woman while announcing his death on Facebook, but Danny Boy told us that he decided to tell the truth after going to the funeral.

The backlash Danny Boy received after making his announcement was tough to deal with, as the singer told us that he lost longtime friends and members of his church started to speak out against his new lifestyle. One of the hardest conversations Danny Boy had to have about the news was with the mothers of his children, including his ex-wife, and he admitted that his oldest child’s mother took the news the best. However, Danny Boy told us that his ex-wife took the news hard, and he added that he hasn’t spoken to his third child’s mother due to their already strained relationship.

Check out more of what Danny Boy had to say about his coming out in the above interview, including if he hooked up with anyone from Death Row.

I applaud him for living his truth.....he has some ways to go before he fully accepts himself, he's on the right path. Wish him well.

Hos take on being gay is one I've heard from many black men who've come out in situations like his, I feel what he's going through and wish all the best. At some point we have to stop saying homosexuality isn't accepted in the black community because it is, it's something people don't want to talk about but the black communities views on being gay have and are changing. One thing he said is true, that for the guy who told VLAD about Danny he himself had to be on the low.

Damn, some of the comments, tho. smh....

"Gays are 7 times more likely to have aids then a straight person. Even gay advocates dont deny this fact. Homosexuals have a disease, they need to be castrated, fed into a woodchipper, and then feed the human meat to a dog. after the dog takes a shit, pick the shit up and bury it in a grave."

"What nigga in his right mind would trade a beautiful woman with a pussy for a ugly ass dude with a dick & risk catching aids? Come on yo this gay agenda shit has gone too far. Faggots even go as far as to denounce god to defend their perverted and sick actions. The world is ending FAST and SOON"

" that's the problem you mutha fers think every man is a potential sex partner and thats what bothers normal male humans you mimic the behavior women use to attract men which is deceitfull they are mentally ill."

There were a few decent {maybe not fully supportive, but decent} comments, but the overall tone is as the aforementioned. No surprise there. LOL

Oh really, I suggest your read the comments section on the video. Black people are just as homophobic as ever. Sorry there's just no way around it.

LOL see there... @Deacon did make some good points. You don't think the black homosexual hasn't had any progress in the black community?

In a paltry limited way yes the black community has made a little progress. Not nearly enough enough though. I'm certainly not going to say it's accepted though. That's just stretching the truth to the breaking point.

Oh no...its not fully accepted. How can it be when black gay/bi men don't even fully accept themselves?

It's not easy to accept yourself when your, family and community don't accept you. It took me well into my 30s to come to grips with myself. I'm one the lucky ones. Some people never get to the point of self acceptance.

I would hate to be in this dudes shoes. This can't be an easy road to walk, losing the person you love or care about and the added rejection of those around you.
When my ex partner passed, we weren't together anymore but it still hurt and broke a piece inside me because I lost one of my best friends and it showed. I took the easy way out and told my straight friends/ coworkers that he was my Stepbrother because I didn't want to deal with any questions or backlash like this dude is going through.

Wow may the young man rest in peace. It seems like Hollywood is really trying to Push that gay agenda. Poor black women. Satan wants to destroy families. It would be nice if he could have just dated men and not brought women and children into the drama. May God be with you. It is great that you decided to live Your truth, but did you have to put the sisters at risk? SEE that's what's not cool living your lie at somebody else's expense. I don't really understand homosexuality but I know we are ALL sinners and no one single is greater than the Rest. I applaudon't you for coming out so no other woman suffers. God bless you and your family.

How can a made up fairy tale creature destroy a family?
Santa is an anagram for Satan, is he in on this insidious family destroying thing also?

I don't recall him announcing any kind of STD's or STI's in the interview so that's quite a foolish stretch to assume he put anyone at risk and being that it was obviously unprotected sex that they had with him,
I hope he's also not at risk because who the F*** knows what he could have caught in return.

So glad to hear that you understand sin because judgement is considered one and you seem quite adept at it.

I'd say god bless you but since there is none, I'll just say Peace.

One of the issues that needs to be addressed in the black GAY/MSM/SGL community is the incorrect thought/concept that there's "one singular black gay experience", not all of us come from a church background, a predominantly black environment or a community/home where being homosexual wasn't accepted. Another one is the self hatred many of us feel and project onto others. I'm not inferring that the black community as a whole is ready to wave rainbow flags or that acceptance as a whole is happening over night but we have to stop perpetuating the idea that blacks are the most unaccepting and homophobic people in the country. It's been a slow process but more and more black people are accepting of homosexuality thinking it's a non issue. When reading a contributors comment I can get a sense of what their experience may have been like, but you can't let that cloud you from seeing what progress has been and is being made, plus for those who may disagree then I ask what have you done or what are you doing to make homosexuality more accepted. As for the comments on the video had Danny been a white country artist coming out as gay, and there have been a few to do so, the comments would have been just as bad.

I always look first and hard at the person who post threads or responses. I know that there are opinions that we all disagree with at some point (that's normal.) I can sometimes over analyze the person and comment; and it's best to keep quiet. I roll my eyes like a good squad member(at least i try) and keep scrolling. This a friendly website and wish not to wakeup- look around. I then realize that I have been tossed into the BGC(and such) LAKE OF FIRE. I tell you it's rough and real out in the world of cyberspace.

However, this is one of those times where you have to address strange comments. I am not going to pick apart this craziness. Tyroc did such a beautiful job doing this.

    Have a few questions:

1.Why are you here? I mean seriously. It's obvious that you are a Christian- or at least adhere to some of it's teachings. 2.Would you mind explaining this to us?
