I know some folks want a white casket with white horses and carriage. Or some want a large funeral with large bouquets of flowers... Me...I'm dead so I dont give a fuk. Throw my dead @ss on some sticks in the back yard and burn my yella @ss up. You can collect my ashes and place them in an urn or dump them in the gutter...I don't care...I'm Dead. Please don't spend no more then 1k on my burial. But that's just me...what say you?
I want to be cremated. I see no point in me having a grave and tombstone. People don't visit me now so I don't want some grave that will also not be visited. I can be dumped in ocean or planted with a tree. I do not want a plot, headstone, suit or casket. You can have a fune/ceremony. Repast if you want. But don't go broke trying to have some final expenses over my childless behind.
Can I just donate my body to science? Is that free? I'd like as little money possible spent on my death. I can't stop family from going all out if they want, but I have no desire for it and won't be there anyway, consciously.
I am leaning more to cremation and a "Dante was..." ceremony. I will have it that part of my life insurance policy benefits the organizations I have supported and volunteered for. It's 2,000 (min) for a casket...FOH!
I encourage all LGBT folks to create a legally binding will that includes clear instructions and provisions for your partner! Don't leave it to your family to do the right thing. I plan to personally do the 60/40 thing. If I'm married 60% to my partner 40 to my parents if not the reverse. Don't put all of the money in the ground and donate my organs I don't care about anything else I'm no longer here for it to matter! Lol
I would think either creamation or one of the new techniques were you turn into a tree, fungus, blown out into space or whatever.
I'm down for whatever is most environmentally friendly. Cremated and used as fertilizer, thrown into the ocean to be fish food, or dumped in a shallow grave to be mulched. No tombstone and I don't want to be embalmed. I don't foresee having a partner ever again so any assets I'de have will go to my little brother.
Oddly enough, I've been thinking about this lately. I would much rather be cremated and planted with a tree, put in the ocean, or whatever other ceremonial shyt there is, lol. I understand that people want to honor the deceased and give them a "proper send off" or whatever...but it's really not worth spending all of that money. I have a question, tho. Have any of you ever thought about whether your get to see your wake/funeral? Maybe even come back and be there amongst the guests (who of course can't see you)...or is this just the result of me having too much imagination and/or watching too much TV as a kid? lol
I agree. A Will, Power of Attorney and Advanced Directive are VERY important. Make it clear for your wants in all those documents. Let the documents speak for you.
