    I support the work and message HOWEVER, this blue, triple fat bubble goose vest is tired and distracting. I understand early on continuously wearing it as brand recognition so "they" will know who you are but folks pretty much know you now as a full time activist....please retire this vest.

    I'm sure DeRay is gonna get a lot of hate from "conscious black" crowd and from large segments of the black community in general. I hope he's prepared for the heat.

    I'm gonna play amateur psychologist from a moment. Aside from making him instantly recognizable I think DeRay is using the vest defense mechanism. Much how like canines raise their hackles to make themselves appear larger and more imposing to adversaries. He is a scrawny dude and the vest kinda bulks him up visually.

    LMAO@the vest. Yes, it's a distraction. It's definitely going to distract those votes from the "church folk" in Baltimore, MD, in addition to him being gay with his run for Mayor.
    His previous work with community organizations and a Teacher in NY is commendable, but he has a fight with some of the other candidates. I would advise him to come out with DeRay Vest Wear as a Plan B.

    I think he's got good ideals and heart but I don't find him to be a very strong speaker. The confidence seems there but he conveys it very weakly so he always loses my attention before he's ½ way through a speech.

    The vest has become invisible to me at this point until someone mentions it but I think it's either a safety blanket or concealing body armor.
